Alexandria ''Alex'' Caroline Mikaelson is a main character in Legacies and a former recurring character in The Originals, before being promoted to a main character in the fifth season. Alexandria is the hybrid daughter of Marcel Gerard and Rebekah Mikaelson. She is the granddaughter of Mikael and Esther Mikaelson. She is the niece of Freya, Finn, Elijah, Niklaus, Kol, and Henrik Mikaelson as well as Emil and the grand-niece of Dahlia.
Alexandria is a member of the Mikaelson Family. Alexandria is by birthright, a member of an unnamed witch family and the only child mothered by an Original Vampire.

- Alexandria is of Greek origin and means "defender of men" or "defender of mankind".[1]
- Caroline is of Old German origin and means "free man".[2]
- Mikaelson is of Scandinavian origin and means "son of Mikael".
- If Alexandria were truly to follow Norse traditions, then her surname should technically be Rebekahsdottir (daughter of Rebekah) opposed to Mikaelson (son of Mikael).
