Charlotte Evangeline Holloway is a major recurring character in Season Three of The Vampire Diaries and later became a main character in Season Four. Charlotte is the hybrid daughter of Damon Salvatore and Aurelia Rosewood-Holloway. She is the niece of Stefan Salvatore and their half-brother. She is the granddaughter of Giuseppe and Lillian Salvatore. She also has younger siblings from Aurelia and William but centuries later, she has three younger half siblings, Stefanie, Grayson, and Lillian Salvatore. Charlotte was born in 1865, only a year after her father and uncle was turned into vampires by Katherine Pierce. Aurelia kept Charlotte's father a secret and told everyone including her husband, Willian Holloway, that Charlotte was his. About almost 20 years later, in 1885, Charlotte was turned into a heretic, making her the second heretic in the Rosewood bloodline. Charlotte then gave birth to her and Kol Mikaelson's child, Faith Mikaelson, the third naturally born heretic.
Charlotte is a member of the Holloway Family, Rosewood Family, and Salvatore Family. She is also a member of the Mikaelson Family via her marriage to Kol and their daughter, Faith.

Charlotte was originally born a siphoner, a witch with no personal power, meaning that she could only practice magic by siphoning it from another source. However, after becoming a vampire, she retained her siphoning ability, allowing her to practice magic by siphoning it from her vampirism. As such, she possesses all the standard powers and abilities of a siphoner-witch non-Original vampire hybrid.
