Clarissa Faith Magnolia Mikaelson is a main character in Legacies and in her own spin off show, Bloodlines & Betrayal respectively. She was also a recurring character who would then go on to be only guest starring in The Originals. Clara is the tribrid daughter of Madeleine Westwood and Kol Mikaelson. She is the granddaughter of Mikael and Esther Mikaelson on her father's side as well as the step-granddaughter to Ansel. She is also the granddaughter of Althea and David Westwood through her mother. She is also the niece to Freya, Finn, Elijah, Klaus, Rebekah, and Henrik, and the grand-niece of Dahlia. Her uncle is Marcel Gerard through his marriage to Rebekah. Due to her mother's marriage to Jeremy, he serves as Clara's stepfather, with Elena being her step-aunt, along with Damon and Stefan as her step-uncles. She is also the adoptive niece to Rose-Marie.
She was named Clarissa after her aunt Clara, who went missing and was killed by supernatural forces back in the late 10th century. Her first middle name, Faith, was suggested by her father, Kol, as he had a quite complicated life, he chose the name "Faith" as a desire for hope and redemption, a new beginning where he wishes for something pure and hopeful. Her second middle name, Magnolia, was chosen by her mother as the Magnolia flower is her favourite and she takes the surname of her father's side.
Clarissa was conceived in The Vampire Diaries season 4 episode, Stand By Me, and it was revealed that Maddie was pregnant as she used her witch abilities to figure it out. At this time, her mother was a newly turned tribrid thus the pregnancy only lasted four months instead of the typical nine. She was born in The Vampire Diaries episode, The Originals. As a result of her unique heritage and her mother being a tribrid, Clara inherited both the witch and werewolf gene from her mother, and the original vampire gene from her father. She is also the third tribrid to ever exist alongside her mother being the first and her cousin Hope being the second.
Early Life[]
Clarissa Faith Magnolia Mikaelson was born on December 2nd, 2014, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Kol Mikaelson and Madeleine Westwood. Unlike most Mikaelsons, she did not grow up in New Orleans despite being born there. Her mother, wanting to keep her safe from the Mikaelsons chaotic past and enemies that lured nearby, raised her away from them in Mystic Falls.
However, Clara was never completely separated from her father. Kol maintained a healthy relationship with her and Madeleine, despite their separation and divorce because of this. Whenever Kol was in Mystic Falls, he would stop by the Gilbert household frequently, as this was where Maddie raised her daughter with the help of the Gilberts, Salvatore brothers and her friends. While she had a relatively normal childhood, she was aware of her supernatural heritage from a young age.
