This is the friendly relationship between the human doppelgänger/cured vampire, Elena Gilbert and the supernatural human/witch, Claire Fogerty.

Elena and Claire first met in the first grade during a school function at Mystic Falls Elementary School. Sometime later, Claire found out Elena and Jacob had fallen in love with each other, which made Claire very happy. In Season One, Claire encourages Elena to tell Jacob how she feels and not to break his heart or there would be consequences.
