Hayden Tyler Gilbert is one of the recurring characters in Legacies and also made a guest appearance in the last episode of The Vampire Diaries. Hayden is the father of Brendon Gilbert. He is the witch son of Jeremy Gilbert and Lyla Montgomery.

He is the grandson of Grayson Gilbert and Miranda Sommers-Gilbert and the adoptive grandson of Edward Montgomery. He is the nephew of Elena Gilbert and Amara Montgomery and the adoptive nephew of Caleb and Rose-Mary Montgomery. He is the grandnephew of Jenna Sommers. He is the cousin of Lillian Mikaelson and the cousin of Stefanie, Grayson, Lillian Salvatore. He is the uncle of Athena Gilbert.

He was named Hayden by his mother. His middle name is Tyler named after his father's best friend. He takes the name of his father side.
