Henrik Mikaelson (Elder Futhark: ᚺᛖᚾᚱᛁᚲ ᛗᛁᚲᚨᛖᛚᛋᛟᚾ) is a major recurring character on The Originals. He died when Klaus brought him to see the werewolves transform, but one of the werewolves lost control and mauled him to death. His death is what drove Mikael and Esther to protect their children by turning them into the original vampires.
Henrik is the second son of Ansel and Esther and the stepson of Mikael. He is the younger brother of Klaus and the younger half-brother of Freya, Finn, Elijah, Kol, and Rebekah. He is also the husband of Davina Claire and the father of their daughter, Karina. He is the uncle of Freya and Mathias' unborn son; Klaus and Hayley's daughter, Hope; Klaus and Juliette's daughter, Penelope; Rebekah and Matt's son, Sebastian; Elijah and Acantha's son, Cassian; Kol and Millie's daughter, Jacqui; and Freya and Keelin's son, Finn II.
Henrik ends up being brought back at the end of first season of The Originals; when Esther brought back herself, Finn, and Kol in the bodies of New Orleans witches.
Henrik is a member of the Mikaelson Family and the Alden Family and a relative of the Claire Family due to his marriage to Davina. Henrik is by birthright, a member of the Nyström Family.

It is mentioned by Rebekah that Henrik was the youngest brother, also making him the youngest sibling and member of the Mikaelson family.
One night during the full moon, despite the warnings from their parents, he and Klaus had gone out to see the werewolves transform, but he ended up being brutally attacked and killed by one. This event is what caused Mikael to ask Esther to transform their children into the first known vampires; never wanting to lose another child ever again. This is also but one reason Mikael hunted Klaus down for centuries; because he blamed Klaus for Henrik's death.

Personality[]
Not much is really known about Henrik's personality before his death back in November of 1001 AD. Though back then, he was noted to be quiet and liked following his older brother's around, but like them, was also scared of his father. He was also proven to be equally reckless as Klaus as they had gone out one night during the full moon to see the werewolves transform. He was apparently closer to Klaus and Rebekah rather than his other brothers.

There is very little known about Henrik and Mikael's relationship, but like his older siblings, he was afraid of his father. It is likely he felt angry with him because of how he treated his older brother, Niklaus. However, Mikael did love his youngest son very much, though he'd probably never show it. For hundreds of years, he had blamed Klaus for his death, which was one of the reasons why he hunted his step-son throughout the centuries. It is also noted that Mikael never found out Henrik wasn't his biological son.

It is known that Esther loved her youngest son very much. After his death, she was devastated to to save her remaining children, turned them into vampires. Henrik's death, therefore, being the direct cause of this event. Klaus also confirmed that Henrik's death actually drove his mother insane. Though an unknown fact is, Esther also bound Henrik's wolf side when he was a baby so Mikael wouldn't find out about Henrik not being his.
