Jordyn Jay ''JJ'' Juliette-Rose Devereaux is main character in Legacies, and she was a former major recurring character in The Vampire Diaries and a guest character on The Originals season four. Jordyn Jay is the Hybrid daughter of Odette Devereaux and Malachai Parker. She is the granddaughter of Joshua Parker and Malachai Unnamed Mother and also the step-granddaughter of Grayson Gilbert and Miranda Sommers-Gilbert. She is also the niece of Malachai unnamed sisters, Malachai unnamed brother, Joey, Josette, Olivia, Lucas, Jane-Anne Devereaux and Sophia Devereaux, and the grand-niece of Joshua Unnamed brother. She is also the distant relative of Brynne Devereaux. Due his marriage to Odette, Jeremy Gilbert is her step-father.
As a result of her unique heritage, she is the world's first born witch-vampire hybrid. She inherited her witch gene from both of her parents, while her vampire legacy came from her father. Through her mother's New Orleans lineage, JJ is witch royalty.
JJ is a member of Devereaux Family, Parker Family and she has ties to the Gilbert Family. She is also a by birthright member of the Gemini Coven.

In Bloody Rage, Malachai Parker and Odette Devereaux slept together and conceived a child.
In The Vampire Diaries, the witch Bonnie Bennett revealed that Odette was, in fact, pregnant with Kai's twins. Kai refused to believe it until he used his enhanced hearing to hear the twins's heartbeat. Bonnie revealed that the twins is one of Nature's "loopholes". She later revealed that it was because of Odette witch side that the twins was conceived.

Even when she was a baby, JJ was said to be a fighter. It was said by both of her parents; Odette in Absent Rage where she said to her doctor that her daughter was a tough one just like herself, and by Kai when he said that both Odette and JJ were fighters in The Last Fall. Both times it is implied that JJ inherited this trait from her mother who got it herself from her own father, JJ's maternal grandfather. She also seemed to be a very calm and happy baby. In The Answer to Blood, Damon says that, like her maternal family, she is resilient.

a baby, Hayley mentioned that JJ looked like her mother. On the other hand, Odette blissfully implied that JJ looks like her father. As a baby, she had brown hair and round dark green eyes. As a child, she had long auburn hair and light brown eyes. Her cheeks had little freckles scattered across them. She was seen in light-colored sleeveless dresses, that normally had flowers or other prints on them. JJ also had dimples in her cheeks.
As a teenager, JJ is the tallest among her friends and peers standing at 5'5" tall. She frequently wears heeled boots to accentuate her height or outfits. She has straight dark brown hair that is seen in many styles. She has dark brown eyes and full lips. She wears relaxed yet edgy clothing that compliments her full, curvy figure. She is always seen wearing her mother's stone necklace, a wishbone necklace, and earrings. Alaric Saltzman described her as beautiful.

Odette is JJ's mother and it is shown various times that Odette strongly loves her daughter. When she first discovered she was pregnant, she attempted to abort the twins by forming a spell, but when she couldn't resolve herself to do it she was attacked and she realized that she wasn't just protecting herself but the twins as well. She then learned that she will have a daughters. As time passed, Odette grew concerned that because she never had a real mother in her life, she would not know how to be a good mother to her daughters, but eventually, that faded and she grew to love the twins deeply and like Kai, is dedicated to protecting them at all costs. This is shown when Seraphine Maverick kidnapped the twins, and tried to kill them before Kai can kill them. Odette was there and fought for her daughters but lost one due to Seraphine, and got JJ back. She also demonstrated the aptitude to know where her daughter is, even if she is hidden by a spell. Odette made a promise to herself and JJ that she (JJ) would grow up safe and loved. She kept this promise by choosing to send JJ away with Hayley to keep her safe from those that would wish her harm in Mystic Falls. After a few months apart they were reunited.

Kai is JJ's father, and even though at first he refused the twins in Absent Years, he soon accepted her and was determined to not be like his father to his child. He even told Odette that the cycle of the pain will end with their twins. After that, he did everything he could to make sure she was kept safe and was shown to be happy when he learned the twins would be a girls. He wants to protect them at all costs and hopes to be in their life someday when it is safe for them. He is not giving up on being in his daughters life quite yet. He is also dedicated to being a better father to her than his father was to him. He did everything in his power to save the twins from Seraphine but save JJ but not Estella which led him to almost killing himself. His love for his daughter brings out the best in Kai, best seen in his reconciliation with both Damon and Bonnie. With the child being born, Kai is becoming the man he used to be.

Hayley left town to found out who her family is and the she was pregnant with Hope, but soon returned when Odette asked her to protect her daughter. Odette told Hayley that despite their differences, there was nobody else she would trust more with the life of her daughter. Hayley left Mystic Falls and became her guardian; she often told JJ stories of her birth and how her mother sent her away to be safe. Hayley and JJ returned to Mystic Falls after Kai found them.
