Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jenna Saltzman is a major recurring character on The Vampire Diaries, guest character on The Originals, and main character on Legacies. She is one of the twin daughters of Alaric Saltzman and Josette Laughlin, the other being Josie Saltzman. Due to Josette's death, she was carried via surrogacy by Caroline Forbes. Her existence was revealed in Let Her Go by Kai, the babies' uncle. However, in I'll Wed You in the Golden Summertime, Kai stabs Jo in the abdomen multiple times, killing her and supposedly killing the twins. However, in Best Served Cold, it was revealed that the Gemini Coven transferred the twins into Caroline's womb. Since then, she has been raised by both Alaric and Caroline.
Lizzie Saltzman is a member of the Saltzman Family and the Parker Family and a member of the Forbes Family, due to being Caroline's surrogate daughter as well as the Fogerty family through her uncle Jacob.

Lizzie was born on March 15, 2014 and is the daughter of Alaric Saltzman and Josette Laughlin, and the fraternal twin sister of Josie Saltzman. She is also the surrogate daughter of Caroline Forbes, as the twins were magically placed into her womb by the Gemini Coven to save their lives.

In Let Her Go, while Jo was thinking she was sick from food poisoning it was revealed to her by her brother that she's pregnant after she gives him her power in order for him to survive the consequences of the merging ritual he performed with his brother, Luke, instead of Jo.
In A Bird in a Gilded Cage, Jo and Alaric began to pick out names for the baby.
In I Never Could Love Like That, Elena finds out about Jo's pregnancy when she tells her that Kai had been imprisoned in the 1903 prison world.
In I'd Leave My Happy Home For You, Jo and Bonnie are attacked by Lily during Jo's bachelorette party. As she is about to feed on Jo, Lily hears the babies' heartbeats and tells her that she is expecting twins. Later, Jo tells Alaric that they will be having twins and that the Gemini Coven will want to get their hands on them to strip Kai of power by performing another twin merge.
In I'm Thinking Of You All The While, Damon reveals that Jo is dead and believed the twins were also dead.
Season Seven[]
In Best Served Cold, it is revealed by Valerie Tulle that the twins actually survived Kai's attack on Jo, due to the fact that the Gemini Coven performed a spell to save the twins. It was also revealed that Caroline Forbes is currently pregnant with the twins.
In Postcards from the Edge, it was revealed that she and her sister had siphoned bits of magic from Caroline's body for a long time, but as they grew in her womb, they siphoned out more and more magic, until Caroline began to desiccate.
In This Woman's Work, Lizzie and her twin are born via c-section. Her father, Alaric allows her former surrogate mother, Caroline Forbes to hold her and her sister, first handing her Josie and informing Caroline of her name and namesake (their mother), then Lizzie who he informed Caroline was named after her mother Elizabeth. Lizzie and Josie are also seen with Caroline in the ending flash forward scene.
In Moonlight on the Bayou, Alaric, the twins and Caroline head to Dallas as he wants to keep his promise to Jo. While at a diner, the twins begin to cry and Alaric leaves with Lizzie to change her diaper. In a flash-forward, Caroline is seen with the twins in New Orleans at St. James Infirmary looking for Klaus. The bartender tells Caroline that Klaus hasn't been seen or heard from in 3 years, which leaves Caroline puzzled.
In Requiem for a Dream, Lizzie, along with her twin sister and their father, Alaric, call Caroline before they go to bed. Lizzie, along with her sister, appear to miss Caroline being she has been on the run with Stefan Salvatore trying to get away from Bonnie. Lizzie even voices that she misses her mother, Caroline, and Caroline tearfully responds that she misses Lizzie too. Before Lizzie, along with Josie, go to bed, they say their goodnight's to Caroline before Alaric takes the phone from them to talk to Caroline on his own, without the children listening.
In Gods and Monsters, Lizzie, along with Josie, learn about their true siphoner-heritage and Alaric and Caroline ask Lizzie and Josie to open the Armory's doors for them, using their siphoning abilities to remove Bonnie's Sealing Spell. Lizzie, along with Josie, successfully open the Armory doors and Lizzie embraces Caroline triumphantly while Josie embraces their father, Alaric.
Season Eight[]
In Hello, Brother, Lizzie along with her sister Josie are seen video calling Alaric until he asked for Seline. Seline tells them to go put on their swimsuits while they chat. Later, the girls visit Caroline at work; Seline leaves to go have a salad for lunch and leaves the girls with Caroline. While she left, Caroline mentions that Seline probably loves kale which makes Lizzie ask her what's kale; Caroline responds with you don't want to know. The video, that is given to her by Seline from Pete, that Caroline is attempting to watch gets to a certain point and the sound messes up to which Lizzie tells her mommy that it is too loud. Later that evening Virginia breaks into the house, attacks Seline and tries to kill the girls for opening the armory. Virginia stalks through the house where she comes to the girl's room. When inside, she hears laughing come from the closet and proceeds though before she is able to approach is knocked out by Caroline. Caroline checks the closet and finds the girls, Lizzie saying hi to her mommy, to which Caroline tells the girls don't move while she handles Virginia.
In You Decided That I Was Worth Saving, Lizzie and Josie are first seen fighting over the tuning fork, to which Alaric tells Lizzie to put the fork down immediately; she tells her dad she had it first which prompts Alaric to yell at Lizzie to drop it. Lizzie drops the fork and she and Josie begin to scream over the vibrations the tuning fork makes. Alaric picks up the fork to stop the vibrations and proceeds to comfort his girls.
In An Eternity of Misery, Lizzie and Josie are getting ready for bed. Lizzie asks Seline for a bedtime story, which Josie answers nothing sad. Seline then tells them the "The Legend of Arcadius".
In Coming Home Was a Mistake, after news of Tyler's death, Seline takes Lizzie and Josie to the local carnival to take the girls off of Alaric's hands. At the carnival, they have fun playing games eventually win a goldfish, though find that it's dead. Seline explains to the girls that the deceased should be treated with dignity and takes them to a warehouse. There, she explains how special people, their souls are taken by Cade. She teaches the twins the Incendia spell and with that can show him what they've done as a tribute. The pile of wood then beings to be set ablaze.
In Detoured On Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell, after Seline kidnapped her and Josie, Caroline and Alaric issue an Amber Alert. Seline takes the girls to a diner, where Sybil and Damon find them, and then to a motel, where she plans to offer them to Arcadius in exchange for and Sybil's freedom from being Arcadius' servants. Sparing the twins, Arcadius accepts Sybil's counteroffer of Damon and Stefan, to which Stefan agrees to. He would then reunite Lizzie and Josie with Alaric and Caroline.
In The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, It Could Be You, Lizzie and Josie visit Caroline for Christmas since they haven't seen her since Alaric took them away from Mystic Falls to a safer location.
In The Lies Will Catch Up To You, Alaric returns to Mystic Falls along with the girls. He brings them to the Armory and they are seen coloring as Alaric calls Caroline. He wants to bring the girls over to Caroline's and admits that he is in need of good parenting advice. As he looks on, the girls are levitating crayons above their heads.
Later that same night, Alaric arrives at Caroline's with Lizzie and Josie who are thrilled to see their mother; they embrace in hugs and she comments about how big they've grown. As the night progresses, Lizzie wants to use her sister's cup, the pink one, rather than her usual purple one. Caroline attempts to take the cup, though she grabs Caroline by the wrist and siphons her until she pulls away. She apologizes and tells Alaric that she didn't mean to do it. Josie, upset that her mommy was hurt, attempts to attack Lizzie with the Incendia spell and fails, without any magic, while Alaric and Caroline intervene grabbing the girls worried about their wild and troubling behavior.
In It's Been a Hell of a Ride, Kai breaks free from the Armory's holding cell and hunts his nieces. Hiding underneath their bed, they call Alaric and he tells them to go hide in their special place if a "monster" was to attack. They follow their father's command and flee to safety. Alaric and Caroline later subdue Kai and, with Bonnie and her guidance, she and Josie create a new prison world, locking him away, ensuring their safety.
In We're Planning a June Wedding, she and her sister are Stefan and Caroline's flower girls for their wedding, they are accompanied by Bonnie. During the reception later that night, she, Josie and Bonnie are trapped in Kelly Donovan's explosion of the Lockwood Mansion. However, with they are protected and Bonnie teaches them the necessary spell to redirect the fires away from them. Ultimately, they survive and Bonnie completely removes the residual fires from the building.
In I Was Feeling Epic, Lizzie and Josie are led out of the charred building by Bonnie, reuniting them with Alaric and Caroline who are overwhelmed with joy at the sight of them. Eventually, Matt learns that they are still in danger from Katherine, who plans to destroy Mystic Falls with the Founder Bell and they gather their few possessions and leave, heading for the Armory. Sometime later, after Mystic Falls is saved by Bonnie, they are seen playing at the Salvatore Boarding House where Alaric unpacks the Salvatore Boarding School sign, where they are planning to establish a school for supernatural children. Their mother's spirit, Jo, continues to watch over the twins and Alaric as they play.
Throughout The Originals[]
In The Tale of Two Wolves, she and Josie wave at Caroline as she gives a tour inside the Salvatore School. Later, she and her sister bargain with Caroline as she asks them to help Klaus and Hope, who is dying due to The Hollow's dark magic inside her. Before Klaus could get a chance to talk to them better, Alaric shoots him with an arrow through the chest, leaving the twins looking at what happened. At night during the full moon, the girls begin a spell to siphon the magic out of Hope and to insert it into Klaus, who will proceed to kill himself. After the spell is completed, Alaric takes the girls away.
Throughout Legacies Series[]
In This is the Part Where You Run, Lizzie, along with Josie give Rafael a tour of the Salvatore school. She later begins to nervously flirt with him, however, he rejects her and she goes into a telekinetic rage in the school kitchen, nearly killing Alaric. She then meditates with him and they discuss her mental health and she states that she doesn't want to hurt anybody. In Some People Just Want To Watch The World Burn, Josie and Lizzie along with other students of the Salvatore school play in a charity flag football game against the Mystic Falls High team. The Salvatore team is losing until Kaleb suggests that the players use their powers to win and the majority of the team agrees. They are winning until Josie insists that they purposely lose the game so the townspeople do not suspect that they have supernatural abilities. Penelope then suggests that the team win without their abilities and Lizzie agrees that it is a good idea. The team nearly wins until Josie casts a spell to ensure that Kaleb does not catch the football. After the game, Dana insults Josie and Lizzie punches her in the face, this starts a riot between the two schools. Later that day Josie reveals that she and Hope cast a dark magic spell to find Landon and Lizzie calls it a betrayal to their sisterhood. She then makes Josie promise that she will not keep any more secrets, to which she agrees. In We're Being Punked, Pedro, Alaric makes all the members of the flag football do community service as a punishment for the riot. While washing graffiti off of a window with Kaleb and MG, members of the Mystic Falls High School team approach them and one of them throws a milkshake on Lizzie. She then storms off back to school, she finds her father and suggests that everything that has happened was his fault and that if he had not been gone with Hope she never would have started the riot. She then leaves and rants to Pedro about her father keeping secrets but the two are attacked by a living gargoyle. Lizzie and Pedro run away and Lizzie siphons some of Pedro's magic to cast a containment spell to keep the gargoyle on the schools grounds. However, it scratches and infects her with a paralyzing poison. Alaric and Emma find her and round up the students into a safe space. Emma then casts an invisibility spell so the gargoyle will not see them. Hope and Josie then defeat the gargoyle and Lizzie is healed. She is later seen with Josie and MG gives her a plate of brownies because he knows they are her favorite. In Hope is Not the Goal, she is the first to volunteer when Alaric asks who wants to investigate the disappearance of Dana and Sasha. Arrived at Mystic Falls High School, she immediately gives directions to others, asking MG to team up together because she needs mind compulsion powers, which he accepts. During a sport class, MG interrogates Dana's friend but the mind compulsion doesn't work so the girl leaves them, outraged that they ask questions about Dana and Sasha. She is upset that the mind compulsion doesn't work and tells MG that he has to concentrate. When Alaric calls, he gives them news and asks if a school vampire feeds on human blood, MG lies saying no and after finishing talking to Alaric, Lizzie who quickly understood that MG was lying, orders him to tell the truth. Lizzie is also annoyed to see Hope catching Kaleb before her when he tries to run away she using the pain infliction to stop him. Once Dana is found, Lizzie accuses Kaleb of having transformed her, but he answers that it's not him. She agrees with the others to explain the situation in Dana about transition, but she refuses to be part of her group if she joins the school. It is revealed that Dana wasn't in transition. After MG understands that the monster is was an arachne, she goes to her pursuit with Hope, Landon and MG. When Alaric calls again to find out what's going on, she refuses to answer the phone first but finally she answers, Alaric tells her to do nothing and wait for him to arrive, he also asks where Hope is, she retorts that for once he had to trust her. She kills the Arachne with Hope and Josie. In the evening, MG compels Sasha to forget recent events and Lizzie also told him to erase everything so that she feels nothing, Hope intervenes to say that they shouldn't prevent her from doing her mourning. Then arguing with her father about the day, she defends herself by saying that as he treats Hope like a heroine, she also wanted to act like a heroine. In Malivore, after the meeting, Lizzie is in her bedroom trying to find the outfit she will wear when announcing the members of the honor council, Josie advises her to find an outfit that proves that she takes this election seriously, in answer she says she's perfect for the job because it's an influence and they need her. Later, as she repeats a speech about her eventual victory, Rafael visits her to have her vote positive on the decision to accept Landon at school, she says her vote will be positive and takes advantage of the opportunity to invite him to be her date at her birthday party, at first reluctant he ends up accepting, that makes her very happy. During the election results, she is happy that Rafael is elected representative of the werewolf, already imagining forming a powerful couple but very quickly disappointed because she didn't win. Back in her bedroom, she tries to calm down, Josie tries to console her and offers the idea to withdraw from the honor council so that they take the second elected but she already had this idea and answers that this is not possible because it wasn't the second either. At the gymnasium as she knocks against a punching bag, Penelope comes to see her, Lizzie ask why she hates her so much, Penelope tells her that it has nothing to do with her, but about how she treats Josie, pointing out to everything her sister does for her and that in return Lizzie does nothing. While she is still sad, Rafael arrives at the gymnasium, seeing that she cries he starts to leave but she stops him, apologizing for the departure of Landon and saying that he doesn't have to be his date but he replies that always agree. She walks forward, kisses him and tells him not to think about it. In Mombie Dearest, she welcomes her sister with a happy birthday to us when Josie returns to the bedroom, very happy about her mother's return and what happened with Rafael as she slept with him in the previous episode. Then Penelope comes and wishes a happy birthday and informs that their mother doesn't come back for the birthday, which makes her furious, so with a gesture of the hand she closes the door. With her sister, she goes to her father's office, wanting an explanation about her mother's absence, as Alaric is only lying, the twins unlocking the locked door. She meets Jo Laughlin, her biological mother for the first time but is rather distant with her, preferring to leave to organize her party. In the bedroom, Josie helps make her hairstyle, talking about Jo, if her sister doesn't want to be suspicious, Lizzie thinks they can be angry at Caroline for not being present but they can not be cheating with a 'mombie dearest'. Arrived at her birthday party, she worries about not seeing Rafael but MG presents herself to her as her date, first reluctant she ends up accepting. It's at the moment when they start to dance that Rafael arrives and apologizes for his delay, she forgives him and continues the dance with him. While she proposes to finish the evening in the clearing, Rafael tells that he is present tonight but it will be without continuation and that last night was a mistake, saddened she wonders where is her sister. After the party and back in her bedroom, with Josie they reluctantly agree to siphon the magic that had revived Jo, which will cause her death again, although Lizzie was distant, she cries with her sister and her father from the loss of their biological mother. In There's a World Where Your Dreams Came True, Lizzie returns home, but she is upset at her father for not getting the updated itinerary since it's due to him not seeing it. She returned earlier and had to take a 3-hour shuttle ride. Hope tells Lizzie that everyone was under a lot of stress dealing with the previous threat, but that doesn't calm Lizzie. Upset, Lizzie goes to her room and meets a jinni. Lizzie sees this as an opportunity and makes her first wish for Hope to not be a pupil, allowing Alaric to focus more on his daughters; however, because of this wish, the school is struggling financially. This reality comes to an end when Hope is found and urged to think about enrolling in the school. Lizzie then wishes that her parents never found the boarding school. She is then transported to a universe where she is in public school, and things are not perfect for the rest of Lizzie's family while she is the school pariah. She exposes her magic after getting into a fight with Josie and is taken to the Mikaelson Boarding School that was founded by Klaus for his daughter, but Lizzie feels as if she is back at square one, causing her to inadvertently wish for an apocalyptic reality where supernaturals are hunted. Josie was accidentally killed by Lizzie after they learned about the Merge, and Hope was never born. Realizing the magnitude of her mistake, Lizzie then attempts to take back all of her wishes by wishing that Ablah never went to Malivore. Ablah, before returning, tells Lizzie tells that without her memories and growth as a person, Josie will still end up dead by Lizzie's hands. Ablah states that this will perhaps happen directly by Lizzie's hands or as a result of the merge. Although Lizzie pleads with Ablah to keep her memories and growth, Ablah returns Lizzie to the moment before her first wish, ultimately erasing Lizzie's memories of the events. After the sudden urge to hug Josie, Lizzie goes to apologize to her dad who tells her contrary what she believes that he always has time for her and Josie; however, Lizzie still feels something's amiss but cannot figure it out. In We're Gonna Need A Spotlight, Lizzie and Josie return to the Salvatore school from traveling in Europe with Caroline. Lizzie reiterates Caroline's words about being airy clouds floating high above a turbulent sea of drama. They won't be triggered by seeing ex-boyfriends, nor be ones to make out with ex-girlfriends. Thanks to Caroline, Lizzie has her silver lining and a fresh, new perspective. Josie states they are the Saltzman Twins 2.0. They greet Hope, Landon, and Rafael. Josie welcomes back Landon but he questions that she voted him out. Lizzie admits that's all in the past and asks if they're as excited as she is for the school's annual talent show. However, with the arrival of a new "monster", Alaric postpones the show due to the monster's potential danger. Hope, however, lets it slip that the monster that Alaric speaks about is in fact a unicorn. She and Josie confront Alaric, questions if this dangerous monster is just a magical pony. Upset, begins to berate her father over his manipulative ploy, however, she quickly corrects herself, believing that this matter is for the honor council. Alaric agrees that they can bring it up at next months meeting, but Josie chimes in, wanting to convene an emergency session and knew how they were going to vote. Lizzie then announces that the show was going on as previously scheduled. As the day progresses, Lizzie and the witches prepare for the talent show. As she instructs them on choreography, they mess up and bump into one another. She criticizes them on not practicing and even points out that their outfits must have shrunk. She continues to berate them but abruptly stops, citing that it's fine, they will adjust to the changes. As they begin the routine again, she questions where's Josie. Josie, with a smoothie in hand, enters the stage, wondering if she's late. Lizzie asks where the canes were, but she doesn't know. She was going to go find them but didn't feel like stressing about it. Lizzie admits that it's fine and asks her to take her usual place. Josie disagrees. She doesn't want to be in the back row and in fact, they should scrap their "lame" routine; do something completely different. Lizzie, being nice, doesn't want to change because it's what they win with every year. Josie wants to sign her own song and everyone could contribute to the choreography - it would be a real collaboration. She asks Lizzie if it sounds nice; Lizzie stifles an agreeing smile. With the talent show underway and the witches making last-minute preparations, Hope and Landon confront the mind-controlled students. Hope having contained them, temporarily, with a spell and Dorian finds chains to further bar the doors. Lizzie confronts them, questioning why they weren't with the other students. Hope and Landon chain her up instead and question her. They claim that she's been infected with a mind-controlling parasite and that is the reason why she's been so nice all day. Lizzie disagrees and Landon examines her, not finding any slug trails. Lizzie demands to be unchained and calls them freaks, but is immediately shocked. She asks to be unchained and she'll tell them. Lizzie explains that she is turning over a new leaf, that she spelled a bracelet to zap her with increasing voltage whenever she said anything mean. She's been zapping herself all day which is why there's no slug in her. Hope wonders why she was wandering around the halls of the school instead of being at the talent show. Lizzie, however, was looking for Josie who was acting weird and eventually bailed on the performance. They unchain Lizzie and devise a plan. Landon assists Alaric, Dorian, and Emma, while she and Hope look for Josie. Hope confronts Josie and Penelope at the abandoned mill. Penelope raises her hands to attack with a spell, but Hope is quicker. She throws Penelope against the banister, knocking her out and Josie begins to form a fireball but Lizzie grabs her arms and siphons the magic from her. She tells Josie to stop, that it isn't her. Josie retaliates, claiming that Lizzie doesn't know the real her. Lizzie wants her to answer one question while saying how she really feels. She asks her if she's a good sister. Josie answers truthfully; she's a terrible sister. Having not noticed that Lizzie slipped her bracelet on to her wrist, Josie is violently shocked, expelling the slug from her. Lizzie embraces her sister, who apologies for what she had said and done. With the students freed from the mind-controlling parasite, the talent show is allowed a second chance - a redo. As the witches prepare for their number, Lizzie confronts Josie and the witches. She wants them to grab a cane and new choreography. Josie's relieved that she's not signing, but Lizzie tells her that she is; the slugs revealed her uninhibited self and the spotlight is officially hers. Josie makes her way center stage and signs while, Lizzie, Penelope and the other witches provide backup choreography. With the talent show over, Lizzie, Josie, and Alaric talk. Lizzie admits that she tortured herself trying so hard to be nice, and all it got her was a headache and everyone thinking that she was infected. She believes that they don't think that she can change and they'll just assume she'll be mean. She comes to the conclusion that she should be what they want her to be. Alaric believes that to be reductive, but Lizzie believes that it suits her. She thanks her father for the perfect talk, kisses him on the cheek, and leaves. In There's a Mummy on Main Street, Lizzie is part of the group that leave the Salvatore School to find the missing urn. She and Josie get into conflict with Hope, which eventually ruins the mood of the road trip. They must work together, however to fix their father's mistakes and find the urn before it gets into the wrong hands. They are unsuccessful in this prospect, however. In Let's Just Finish the Dance, Lizzie is ecstatic about the prospect of the chance to win Miss Mystic Falls. She has been planning for her opportunity since her childhood, fueled by her aspiration to win given her mother, Caroline, also won. When she realizes that one of the judges is Dana's mother, however, Lizzie realizes that she has a slim chance to win the competition and much to Josie's dismay, she passes the baton to Hope — this causes a rift between Josie and Lizzie, which Penelope Park exploits to draw a rift between the two. Lizzie updates Josie on her role in the competition, including that she must fall down the stairs, knocking out one of the opponents in the race. When Penelope finds out, she tries to convince Josie that she can win the pageant and that Lizzie doesn't respect her. Eventually, Josie goes along with the plan, however, when she finds out that Penelope is leaving, and that Lizzie knew about the Merge, she confronts her. The two get into a heated debate in which rifts are drawn between the two, but more importantly, Josie reveals the origin of the dress Hope is wearing. Hope overhears this through Roman and breaks down on the dance floor. Lizzie apologizes to Hope for the ordeal, citing that she did not know the origin of the dress. In I'll Tell You a Story, Lizzie is trying to apologize to Josie with cakes. She enlists Hope's help, in return, Lizzie offers Hope Emma Tig's prism; a prism capable of manifesting one's subconscious. Lizzie eventually tries to talk with Josie, offering her savory snacks and a book about the history of the Gemini Coven — a topic Josie has been extensively researching. Josie declines her offer of peace, however, and the two remain at one another's throats. Later, the power struggle between the two climaxes and the two physically fight with magic. This ends in Josie overpowering Lizzie and throwing her across the room, a feat she later becomes ashamed of, but also that convinces Lizzie that she will lose the Merge. Alaric later tells the twins about the Merge after Hope pressures him. In There's Always a Loophole, Lizzie and Josie are still mad at each other over what happened previously at the Miss Mystic Falls Pageant. When Triad Industries take over the school, Lizzie hides in Alaric's office with Josie and Hope. When Burr attempts to shoot Lizzie, Josie jumps in front, however, and is shot by a bullet forged from Malivore. Lizzie and Josie eventually settle their differences with the prospect of Josie's life being on the line. Josie tells Lizzie that her death is one way to ensure the Merge does not go ahead, however Lizzie remarks that the situation is meant to be different. Lizzie becomes bereft when she realizes that she cannot siphon the magic from the bullet, but is happy when Hope's blood is revealed as the cure for the bullet. The two sit together at their father's address when he reveals that he will be putting his position at the school to the vote of the students. |

Lizzie is concerned and asked how their father is doing given he has lost his position as headmaster. She tells Josie that she has learned of a magical object, the ascendant but does not know much about it, other than it could perhaps have something to do with the Merge. Lizzie pleads with Josie to join her on the trip, but she declines. At the end of the night, Josie tells Lizzie that she has learned some information about the ascendant. She tells Lizzie that they have a crazy uncle, and that he killed Jo on her wedding day. With this, the two promise to leave the situation with the ascendant alone. In This Year Will Be Different, Lizzie has returned from summer break and is embracing a year of opportunities. Kaleb overhears this and sees it as an opportunity to get MG and Lizzie together. MG later asks Lizzie out, and she reluctantly says yes to a "study-date" at the Old Mill. When she arrives at the Old Mill, she finds that she has been stood up by MG, but bumps into a mysterious newcomer, Sebastian. She feels a connection immediately, despite not knowing who or what he is. He warns her to stay away as he is afraid he will hurt her. MG arrives not longer after, apologizing for his punctuality but he was hold up with Alaric. Lizzie says that it is fine, but is clearly preoccupied with what has just happened. Despite telling her to stay away, she uses a locator spell to track Sebastian, who arrives as the result proves inconclusive. He realizes that she is a witch, and again warns her to stay away as he is dangerous, however she seems infatuated with him. She later tells MG that the two of them are not a good match as she is interested in someone else — but does not reveal this to be Sebastian. She thanks MG for being a good friend, but does not realize that she has broken his heart. In You Remind Me of Someone I Used to Know, Lizzie is pondering over what species Sebastian could possibly be, and if he could possibly be another monster sent from Malivore. She is approached by MG, who invites her to the annual football game against Mystic Falls High School on the premise that he could help her search using him vampiric abilities. She reluctantly agrees to attend the match despite not being chosen as quarterback. Lizzie involves herself with the game. On the football pitch, she does not involve herself much in the game, instead looks through books at potential supernatural species that Sebastian could be attributed to. However when she notices Sebastian watching the game from afar, she involves herself in the game, wanting to show off in front of him. He leaves the game shortly after, however and she follows in pursuit. She follows him to the basement of the Salvatore School, where he warns her to keep away from him. She questions what he is, and he reveals that he is a vampire, much to her relief. Sebastian is surprised that she finds this relieving, however she admits that her best friends are vampires and therefore this will pose no barrier to the two being together romantically. They begin to kiss, which is witnessed by MG from afar, however MG is unable to perceive Sebastian and it appears that Lizzie is kissing the air. In Since When Do You Speak Japanese?, Lizzie meets with Sebastian for their date behind the Salvatore School near the lake. The two talk, and Sebastian tells Lizzie that he wants the two to be closer. The date is disturbed by MG, when he staggers whilst recording the two from a distance. MG shows Lizzie the video he has captured, proving that Sebastian cannot be seen by anyone else and is a figment of her imagination — a fact later proven to be false. Lizzie is distraught and heartbroken by this and tells MG that the two of them are no longer friends, she further tells him that he no longer exists to her. Lizzie attempts to drown her sorrows in ice cream in the Town Square, when she notices Landon passing with Kurutta's Sword. She calls out to Landon, but he is unresponsive, which alerts her to the fact that he is possessed by the oni. She takes Kurutta's sword from Landon and stabs him with it, killing Landon but taking the oni into herself. Hope and Josie arrive not long after to find Lizzie has chained herself to a tree to trap the oni. She reveals to the two, in an emotional moment of weakness, that Sebastian is not real and she is broken. Despite her attempts to piece herself back together, she believes herself to be truly un-fixable. With this, she begs Josie to kill her, and indirectly the oni, with Kurutta's sword. However Josie refuses, instead siphoning the magic from the sword and using it to pull the oni from Lizzie. Following this, Lizzie wakes up in the middle of the night after numerous dreams about Hope. She jolts awake exclaiming the name "Hope Andrea Mikaelson", having regained her memories perhaps due to the blast of dark magic from Josie. This makes her the only person at this moment to actually remember Hope. Lizzie and Hope before the "game" begins. In Screw Endgame, Lizzie confronts Hope after remembering who she is, questioning why she didn't tell anyone. Before Hope can answer, however, the Keeper arrives, welcoming the two to "the game". They are at first unaware of the meaning of the statement, but eventually realize they have been placed into a game when the two die crossing the road, but are resurrected. The Keeper reveals to the two that the only way for the two to leave the game is if one of them takes her place — becoming trapped in the game — whilst the other is set free. Both refuse to take her place, and are chased by the minotaur. They eventually evade him, and they talk about why Hope isn't revealing herself to the world. Hope believes herself to be better off forgotten, however Lizzie remarks that it isn't true. They stop for a rest, and Lizzie tells Hope that if she remains in the game, she may not have to merge with Josie. With this, she knocks Hope out with a log and goes to see the Keeper. Talking with the Keeper, it becomes apparent that Hope would not survive should Lizzie take the Keepers place. Given this, when the Keeper hands over her bracelet — which is also the only thing protecting her from the minotaur — Lizzie smashes it to pieces, remarking that nobody should have to make that decision. Hope and Lizzie eventually kill the minotaur, which returns them, and the Keeper, to reality. They watch as Josie and Landon leave the 80s Decade Dance to have sex, however Hope tells Lizzie to let them leave, as the two are good together. Lizzie hangs out with Landon and the two discuss Sci-Fi. In That's Nothing I Had to Remember, Lizzie hangs out with Landon to protect him from the croatoan, the new monster terrorizing Mystic Falls. She tries not to reveal Hope's secret, however things are difficult, especially when Landon reveals that he and Josie did not have sex. She makes Landon talk about Star Wars to take her mind off telling him about his past with Hope. Later, Landon and Lizzie are faced directly by the croatoan, who they believe is coming for Landon. It is eventually revealed that the croatoan is actually after those who keep the most secrets, therefore is after Lizzie. Lizzie calls MG (who is with Sebastian), to ask about killing the croatoan. They come up inconclusive at first, until Josie blasts everyone with dark magic, returning their memories. Sebastian is then able to help kill the monster, given his past experiences with it. At the end of the day, when all of the chaos dies down, Lizzie tries to comfort Josie about Landon and what decision he will possibly make about their future. MG enters with Sebastian, and Lizzie thinks that she is having another episode, however Josie reveals that she too can see Sebastian, who is revealed to be real. In It Will All Be Painfully Clear Soon Enough, Lizzie is part of formulating the plan to sacrifice Simulandon to the sphinx instead of the real Landon. The plan effectively fails, however, much to Lizzie's dismay, as the sphinx reveals he is not interested in Landon. Lizzie questions why the sphinx is in Mystic Falls, but instead of giving her, he instead gives her a long and complex riddle to decipher. She eventually relays this riddle to Alaric and Dorian, who are able to figure it out. In This Christmas Was Surprisingly Violent, Hope asks Lizzie to go on a road trip to find Landon and bring him back to the school. She reluctantly agrees, and takes Sebastian with her. It is on the trip that it is revealed that she created him a daylight ring. After leaving him by the roadside, Sebastian catches back up with her after she pleads with Landon to return to the school. When Sebastian finishes changing her car tire, he takes off his shirt. Lizzie tells him to put it back on, but ends up kissing him nonetheless. The two end up having sex, and after it, Sebastian tells her that he'd like to stay at the school as it is the only thing he has. In I Couldn't Have Done This Without You, Lizzie struggles with Sebastian's introduction to the Salvatore School. She tells MG that the two cannot stop sleeping together and have had sex at multiple locations across the school. To remedy this, she sits with MG and reads comics, however when he realizes she is using him, he feels offended and leaves. Later after an encounter with Alyssa, Sebastian grows annoyed and leaves the school to attack a nearby runner. Alaric stops him, and offers him a second chance, however Sebastian uses this as an opportunity to mock Alaric, citing that Lizzie will never be safe as long as he is alive. Alaric grows increasingly angry with Sebastian, however it is not revealed if he harms him. Lizzie cries over Sebastian. Lizzie visits Alaric's office — whilst he is cleaning his arrow — and asks about Sebastian. Instead of telling Lizzie the truth, he tells her that Sebastian couldn't follow the rules and chose to leave the school. This upsets Lizzie, and she breaks down crying. In This is Why We Don't Entrust Plans to Muppet Babies, Lizzie helps Josie and Alaric as they attempt to slow down the degradation of the mora miserium. It becomes clear that magic is not the answer, and Lizzie suggests sending the sand clock to the Prison World — a place in which magic cannot escape. Alaric shuts her down, however, citing that he will fix the issue. When Alaric leaves, Lizzie and Josie talk about their father's reaction, and Josie tells Lizzie that he won't allow them anywhere near Kai. Lizzie and Josie embrace, having sent the mora miserium away. Later in the day, after a conversation with Sheriff Machado, Alaric realizes that he must trust his daughters more, and agrees to allow them to create a new Prison World and send the mora miserium there. Lizzie and Josie spearhead the effort and are assisted by the witches of the Salvatore School. They are successful in sending the sand clock away, however due to a plan enacted by Alyssa Chang, Lizzie, Josie and Alaric are transported to the Prison World too. Whilst there, she finds out that Sebastian too has been sent here, and Alaric lied about his whereabouts. Lizzie and Sebastian enjoy their fantasy. In Kai Parker Screwed Us, Lizzie is visibly furious over Alaric's treatment of Sebastian and questions why he sent Sebastian away and lied. Alaric reveals that Sebastian refused to follow the rules, and Lizzie realizes that sending Sebastian away was the reason Emma Tig returned to the Salvatore School. Lizzie is convinced to explore the Prison World with Sebastian, despite being reluctant at first. Lizzie later dances with Sebastian in a large mansion, and the two enjoy a pseudo-fantasy day together. Lizzie tells Sebastian that she doesn't want the day to end, and Sebastian reveals that it doesn't have to. Lizzie believes that they can convince Alaric that Sebastian isn't a threat, however Sebastian reveals that he doesn't want to return to the modern world, but to remain in the peaceful Prison World forever. Sebastian suggests that he turn Lizzie into a vampire so that the two of them can be youthful and live together forever. Lizzie desiccates Sebastian. Lizzie doesn't take the suggestion well, and tells Sebastian that whilst she has thought about becoming a vampire before, she doesn't know what the future holds and doesn't want to lose the ability to have children or start a family. Sebastian tells her that she doesn't have a choice, however and has laced her wine with blood — similar to how Mikael had turned his children into the first vampires over a thousand years prior. Startled and afraid, Lizzie runs, however she is no match for Sebastian's speed, and he manages to catch her. He tells her that he doesn't want to lose her again, and accidentally calls her Cassandra, which she does not take lightly. When the two kiss, she siphons him and he desiccates. In You Can't Save Them All, Lizzie is rushed to the hospital following blacking out at the wheel whilst driving. She has a large abdominal injury, and is losing blood fast. In order to save her, Alaric trusts Jade — an experienced EMT — to talk him through the steps to stop the bleeding. They are successful, and Lizzie's condition becomes stable. Lizzie returns home. When Lizzie is well enough, Josie reveals that she is now powerful enough to open multiple doors out of the Prison World and back to Mystic Falls. Lizzie begs her father not to remain behind as the anchor, however he dismisses her and remarks that he knows they'll find a way to free him. Sebastian arrives shortly after Lizzie has returned home and volunteers himself to be the anchor, allowing Alaric and Josie to return home. Lizzie watches as the ascendant fractures. When everyone is back, Lizzie astral projects to the Prison World and tells Sebastian to jump into the Malivore pit, given the Prison World is unstable and is folding in on itself. He dismisses her, however, simply citing that he believes he would've liked it in the Prison World, and Lizzie leaves. She is later seen with the ascendant as it fractures, signaling that the Prison World is no longer. In There's A Place Where The Lost Things Go, Lizzie is a part of Emma's simulation. Inside the simulation she plays the role of a small-town actress who is unpopular. Josie arranges an attempt on her life in order to gauge the interest of the press. Lizzie eventually escapes the simulation with the help of Hope. In Life Was So Much Easier When I Only Cared About Myself, Lizzie and Hope discuss Josie's behavior, with Lizzie remarking that Josie really is in trouble. Josie interrupts the conversation and tells the two that her and Lizzie will Merge later that night. Lizzie is confused and worried about the prospect of losing the Merge, however Hope remarks that she will aid her in preparation. Hope tells Lizzie that she has a plan, however it relies on her winning the Merge. Hope surmises that she can place Josie within Lizzie's mind until she can be returned to normal. Lizzie is still concerned and tells Hope and MG that she needs to consult someone over her mental strength. Lizzie asks Alyssa if she can win the Merge, however Alyssa tells her that she is unlikely to win. Alyssa is unable to provide further insight, however, and is murdered by Josie. In fears of facing the same fate, Lizzie fleas the Salvatore School. She is eventually approached by MG who tells her that he is willing to run away with her. The two talk, and it becomes clear that MG has actually been sent by Hope to convince Lizzie to return to the Salvatore School; Lizzie eventually agrees despite initial reluctance. Confronting Josie, Lizzie prepares to Merge and when MG tells her to siphon him for extra power, she kisses him much to his surprise. Lizzie and Josie successfully Merge but Lizzie loses as she predicted. She is surprised to find herself still alive, however, when it is revealed that Hope linked her life force to Landon's in a bid to save her. In order to keep up their story—and allow Hope's plan to succeed, however—Lizzie must remain dead to the public. In Facing Darkness is Kinda My Thing, Lizzie masquerades as Hope in a bid to plan her own funeral, despite initial reluctance from her father. Throughout the day, however, it becomes increasingly clear that the students at the Salvatore School do not care about Lizzie's death; some of them are even happy she is gone. This affects Lizzie and she begins a quest of showing the students who she truly is by writing and delivering her own eulogy, something MG was meant to deliver. Delivering her eulogy, she is mocked by the audience who laugh at her, causing her to storm off. She eventually attempts to reveal herself to the school but is stopped when MG begins to deliver her eulogy. In the eulogy, MG remarks how Lizzie tried to change numerous times, but the school didn't allow her; Lizzie is greatly moved by the speech. Thankful for MG's speech—and fearful that MG will not get to attend his own funeral given his vampire status—Lizzie writes and delivers a eulogy for MG to him. She is approached by the members of the school who previously resented her, but are now happy to see she is not dead. |
Lizzie furious at the witches. In We're Not Worthy, Lizzie tries to aid her father with a plan to solve the school's hatred towards Josie given her past behavior and actions towards them. Alaric refuses her plan, citing that he just wants Lizzie to keep an eye on Josie, but Lizzie tells her that this would require that she become her past self, which she is unwilling to do. When Lizzie sees the witches, led by Alyssa Chang, tormenting Josie, however, she remarks "game on", and vows to solve the issue once and for all. Josie is furious with Lizzie and confronts her, telling her to stay out of it. At the Salvatore field day, Lizzie talks with MG about how well the day is going, but he remarks that things will surely change when the games are announced. Lizzie notices Josie being secluded by Alyssa once more and marches over to rectify the situation. She threatens the students with her former, meaner, self if they do not appoint Josie their captain, to which they agree. When Alyssa picks tug-of-war as the first game, Lizzie tells Josie that she just needs to cast "imobilis" and they will win the game. Josie tries to tell Lizzie that she cannot practice magic — having put away her power previously — but Lizzie is too caught up in the moment to listen. When the game begins, Lizzie repeatedly tells Josie to cast the spell as they begin to lose, with Josie once again explaining that she cannot practice magic. This ends in the witches losing the game and Josie falling into the mud pit in the middle of the stage. Josie is furious, and tells Lizzie to stay out of it as she is only making things worse; Lizzie is saddened by this, but understands. Moments later, they are distracted with the arrival of Nimue, the Lady of the Lake. After the Green Knight is defeated, and Nimue returns to the lake, Lizzie talks with MG about how the day went. In Goodbyes Sure Do Suck, Lizzie attempts to aid Rafael and Landon with a transference of power spell in a hope to preserve Rafael's life. As she begins the spell, however, she finds that Landon contains no magical energy to transfer, therefore is likely human; this comes as a shock, but Lizzie is adamant that she will find another way to help save Rafael's life. Lizzie eventually comes up with a plan involving a Prison World, and helps create a Prison World for Rafael to live out the remainder of his life with his parents, Walt and Lucia. She transfers Rafael and the other two — along with Hope's help to the Prison World. She later bids farewell to Rafael along with the other members of the Salvatore School. Lizzie reads the letter from Caroline. In Salvatore: The Musical!, as Lizzie partakes in the Salvatore School Musical, she struggles with the concept of never getting "better", and not having a defining moment that changed her life such as her mother's transition. Lizzie struggles with this, but eventually is sent a letter by Caroline in which she is told that there is no defining moment in life. Caroline further explains that there was no defining moment in her life, and that Life happens when you least expect it; this lightens Lizzie's mood. In Hold on Tight, Lizzie is among those who volunteer to aid Alaric in his quest against the Necromancer and Malivore. Lizzie teams up with Josie and the two find Alyssa holding MG at the Salvatore Crypt, having linked him to the spell. They attempt to reverse the spell after taking out Alyssa with a slumber spell but find themselves unable to do so given the intricacy of the spell. MG tells the two that they must wake Alyssa and ask for her assistance in reversing the spell, but Lizzie is reluctant given her hatred of Alyssa. Nonetheless, Lizzie accepts that she has no choice in the matter and she wakes Alyssa from the spell placed on her. The trio work together with Lizzie to reverse the spell placed on MG. Josie and Lizzie talk about Josie's wishes to transfer. At the end of the day, Lizzie plans to tell MG how she feels about him, but witnesses him and Alyssa kissing after Alyssa apologizes to him. This shatters Lizzie, who rushes to tell Josie about what she has witnessed. Unfortunately for Lizzie, she is interrupted by Josie's news that she wishes to transfer to Mystic Falls High School and live her life as a human for a while. In This is What It Takes, Lizzie struggles with the idea of Josie leaving her to transfer to Mystic Falls High. She and MG travel to a Prison World with the idea of finding something that would convince Josie to remain at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted. Unfortunately, the two aren't able to find anything, and MG suggests that perhaps there isn't anything to find — it may be Josie's destiny to transfer, and MG tells Lizzie that she should accept and respect Josie's wishes. Lizzie shows Josie the outfit Tensions arise between Lizzie and MG when Lizzie tries to tell MG how she feels about him. In a convoluted way, Lizzie explains that she likes MG, but he finds it difficult to understand what she is saying and the idea is lost on him. Lizzie becomes frustrated, and sends MG back to the present, leaving herself in the Prison World a little longer. Returning back to Mystic Falls, Lizzie finally begins to accept Josie's decision and shows her an outfit that she has prepared for her, given that nobody at Mystic Falls High wears a school uniform. Lizzie explains that she is finding it difficult to accept the decision, but will support Josie and love her nonetheless. In To Whom It May Concern, Lizzie keeps herself occupied considering it's Josie's first day at Mystic Falls High School. She plans out "Operation: Rescue Hope from Herself" after Landon seemingly dies. She even has a speech ready, but Hope accepts. She informs Hope that her father wants them to run the tour for prospective students. Despite her earlier acceptance, Hope explains that she can't handle being around a bunch of strangers, but reluctantly accepts. Lizzie promises that she's only asking for one shift and MG and Kaleb will get back with the first wave of returning students, then they can take over. It will be a good distraction for both of them. In the Grand Hall, seven prospective students sit in silence until Lizzie wonders if they have any questions. One person questions where all the other students are, and Lizzie explains that they're on a midsemester break. Another student counters this explanation, citing that the break was because of the daughter of the headmaster using black magic and killing another student. Lizzie denies this, nearly slipping that it was actually because of all the monsters plaguing the school. To avoid any more lies, she and Hope begin the tour. However, as the tour begins, most of the prospective students leave, even with the arrival of MG, Kaleb, Jed, and Wade. Alaric calls a meeting and informs them that many of the students have decided not to return. Alaric has even received a letter from a group of concerned parents. Apparently, enlisting the whole school in a battle royale against the Necromancer was the last straw and they no longer feel it's safe and they're transferring to other schools. Moreso, without the tuition checks, they can't afford all the faculty and they elect to solve one problem at a time. Lizzie decides to assist Alaric. In Alaric's office, he believes he's averted the crisis. He's called some parents and they have thirty students to satisfy the town charter. However, Lizzie points out that he has thirty names, which include Landon and Rafael, both of which cannot be counted and still down two they need. Alaric contemplates bringing Josie back, but she adamantly refuses. For her sake, they need to find another way. However, Kaleb barges in and explains that the tour is bleeding students. Though with him now with them, he's left the remaining students with Hope, who inadvertently loses control of her magic and knows the students unconscious. Taking a different approach, they decide to take the remaining students on a one-on-one approach and she gets Gaby. Touring the kitchen, Gaby is unimpressed. In fact her old school in Belgium had a kitchen twice this size and it was in a renovated castle. She even mentions that a witch who went to her old school warned her that this place was run-down. Penelope had a lot of opinions but told her the best part was Josie. Gaby questions that if the school is so great, then where was she. Lizzie blows up at her, telling her that if this school isn't good enough for her, that's fine and she doesn't have to go here. Gaby leaves, but believes that her outburst wasn't about her, and more about her sister. Ultimately Gaby decides to stay, having previously met and befriended Wade. Another prospective student, Cleo also joins the school, giving them the thirty they need. Later that night, since she's had a terrible day, Lizzie wants to hang out with MG. To do something, anything to take her mind off of things. He's the last normal thing around her. MG, however, tells her no. This is their pattern and he doesn't want that dynamic anymore. He gives her a bit of advice, that if she keeps searching for someone to fill this void, she'll end up putting her happiness in other people's hands. But their happiness is their own job. Lizzie accepts his decision and leaves, making him believe that they're both vulnerable and could have make some stupid mistakes. In Yup, It's a Leprechaun, All Right, the school continues to suffer from the mass student exodus. Lizzie addresses the few students at the assembly. Though they have thirty students enrolled to support the school, with fewer students than before, they're suffering from financial loss as well and had to cut back, such as dances and trips being canceled. Lizzie has come up with a solution; the first, and hopefully last, fundraiser month. Although they only have two events planned, a bake sale and a car wash, she takes suggestions from the students. Cleo volunteers Hope and herself to create art to auction off. However, Josie interrupts with news from a city messenger. The school has a past due property tax lien and owes $91,000 that they must pay within the week or the bank gets the school; a financial crisis. Lizzie declares that fundraiser month is canceled and they're combining everything into fundraiser day. They're doing it all at once, right now. Lizzie rallys the students and organizes several events, though given the two-hour short notice, Kaleb can't get a marketing campaign together. Lizzie decides the best option is to use magic. In her grimoire, she has some old, Salem-era spells for dispersing angry mobs. To bring people to the school for Fundraiser Day, she intends to try and figure out if she could reverse one of them and draw people to them. Kaleb reminds her that Alaric doesn't want magic being used, and despite disagreeing with his methods, intends to follow them. However, a rainbow appears overhead, and Lizzie isn't the one who's created it. Kaleb's found the culprit, a leprechaun, and they trap it in the werewolf transition space. Lizzie concludes that the pot-of-gold is a myth, but believes they can use the creature's ability to influence people and attract wealth for their fundraiser day. Lizzie has found a loophole to her father's rule. They're not using magic, the leprechaun is and they can save their school in the process. Kaleb has no choice but to go along with her plan. Fundraiser day is a success, however, people quickly descend into madness and some begin to start physically fighting on another. Hope and Cleo take notice and confront her and Kaleb, learning of the leprechaun's presence. Hope wants answers from the creature and forces Lizzie to shut down fundraiser day, however, Lizzie begins to experience her own madness, wanting to sell her own belongings to make some extra cash. Fundraiser day is officially canceled, but Lizzie believes that it doesn't even feel like home any more. All the students that have left and the luxuries they've had to cut. With Kaleb's help, she sends the patrons away. Later, she learns that the leprechaun was released by Hope and has consumed all of the money they've gained from fundraiser day, as well as other artifacts from the school. That night, she's confronted by MG in the kitchen; she wants to help. Given earlier events, she's grown and doesn't need to rely on the comforts of the past. He asks her if maybe she could help him with another mess, a big one. He warns her not to think less of him, but that would be hypocritical of her, considering he's seen her at her worst. However, before he could explain the entire situation, she sees Hope over his shoulder holding the 2029 ascendant. She would have done anything to help him, but it's now too late. In Long Time, No See, Hope pushes for them to use the ascendant and search for Landon in the prison world. Alaric won't sign off on it until he has proof that he's trapped there. Though she's promised her dad that she would help her and be her supernatural fact-checker. She warns her, however, to manage her expectations, because she knows she'll keep looking whether they find proof or not. Josie appears at their door and inquires what they're doing, but she's determined to keep her sister out of all things magical. She pushes her out the door two cast their projection spell. Now in astral form in the prison world, they begin their search. Coming to the gates of the school, Lizzie believes that if Landon was alive and in the prison world, she and MG would have found it earlier. She recalls that she, too, has had a tragic prison world mishap and lost a boyfriend and explains that she's comparing blind spots. Hope has one for Landon, just as she did for Sebastian. That's the key. Lizzie can tell her if anything has changed in the prison world. Initially, nothing was different, but she notices remnants of what used to be a message. Since the prison world repeats, they follow the wind and eventually find the message, which has "My name is Landon Kirby." This is the proof that Hope needs and they return to the mortal world. They convene a meeting with Alaric, Jed, and Wade. MG arrives late, but considering his actions, Hope neglected to inform him of the meeting. Hope plans to use the planetary transit occurring the same night to enter the prison world to cast a locator spell for Landon. MG disagrees with the plan, believing it's too soon as they're unprepared. However, since he's had the ascendant hidden for all this time, they have no choice. The next celestial event isn't for another month and she refuses to wait that long. Everyone justifies their various pros and cons of the mission, and Alaric leaves it up to a vote. MG tries to persuade them to not go, but they decide against it and he leaves. They leave it up to a vote and Kaleb arrives. He remains neutral, but Wade and Jed agree with Hope. Lizzie, however, decides to side with MG. Hope becomes upset as she's the Gemini witch that can activate the ascendant and without her, their plan falls apart. With the meeting adjourned, Lizzie spells the ascendant to keep Hope from taking it. However, she finds MG trying to do just that. He admits that he was trying to steal it, but they both know that Hope will never quit until she gets what she wants and he doesn't want to see her, or anyone else, get hurt. Lizzie, however, is there to help him. She siphons the spell and gives him the ascendant. They have to keep the ascendant out of Hope's hands long enough for the celestial event to pass. Lizzie goes back and speaks with her dad. She believes him to be mad at her, but he's not. Alaric just doesn't know what the right call is. He wishes there was a less dangerous way, but he doesn't see one, nor is there another, closer, celestial event that will give them more time to prepare. If they don't go tonight, they'll have to wait another month. They almost lost the school because students fought monsters, but that's only the partial reason she sided with MG. He's always had her back, even when she didn't choose him or deserved it. The least she could do now was return the favor for once. Alaric gets a call from Dorian. He informs her that Josie skipped school and Hope has found her Gemini witch. That night, she and MG stop to get gas as they take the ascendant away from the school. However, she's keeping a close eye on her sister's whereabouts with a locator spell. She tables MGs conversation. She has so many things that she wants to explain to him, and regrets all the times that she let him down or made him feel used. She promises that she's going to try really, really hard not to do it ever again, but not tonight. She begins siphoning from him and explains that Hope has Josie. They both know that she won't stop until she gets the ascendant, so she's forced to make a decision; she's going to give her the ascendant if it means saving her. Arriving at the site where Hope intends to perform the spell, she stops Hope from giving Josie back her coin where she's stored her siphoning power. She reprimands Hope for bringing her sister into this magical business. Hope would rather skip the verbal sparring and get to the actual fighting and demand that she give the coin back to Josie so they can perform the spell. Lizzie refuses, cloaks the coin, and throws it into the field. Lizzie decides that she will perform the spell in Josie's stead, as she is her blind spot, just as Landon is Hope's. With all of the preparations completed, Hope and Lizzie begin the spell, warning Josie to leave the circle and to not enter. As they begin the spell, the portal opens to the prison world, but Lizzie starts to experience excruciating pain. The ascendant and spell is corrupted and dark magic is flooding out from the portal. The Necromancer was banished with tons of it, and Josie believes that the prison world is equivalent to being radioactive. Dark magic begins infecting her and Hope. Josie begs Lizzie to release the ascendant, but she can't. Hope pushes for them to continue the spell despite the possibility of dying. Hope doesn't want to abandon Landon again. Lizzie screams as dark magic infects her and Josie steps through the circle, grabbing her sister's arm, sharing the pain and dark magic. Landon appears from the portal and destroys the ascendant, sending them all flying through the air. Landon is free and has returned. The following morning, she sits with MG until he comes too. She owes him an apology for siphoning him and stealing the ascendant for Hope. In her defense, the latter part turned out okay as they've returned Landon from the prison world. She agrees that his plan was right. Hope's plan was dangerous and vows that it is the last time she does anything for her. MG questions why she betrayed him and she explains it was for Josie. She's the only person on the planet that she would betray anyone for, especially him. He feels, though, that people used to listen to him. Maybe not all the time, but when lives were on the line, but that's what made the rest okay. However, that's no longer the case, he doesn't know why he's even here. He no longer feels that the Salvatore School is his home. He believes if everybody is going to bail on him when it matters most, then he has to bail before it gets to that point again. In Do All Malivore Monsters Provide This Level of Emotional Insight?, Lizzie and the others sit and discuss recent events. Landon is back, too, and adjusting back into normalcy. Alaric mentions that the monsters are back and believes that Malivore sent the leprechaun to retrieve the ascendant since he's stuck in the prison world. While they believe Landon is safe, Lizzie quips that the rest of them are not so much. However, now with the ascendant destroyed, the monsters may be back after Landon. Kaleb nominates Cleo for their squad and the majority passes the motion. Lizzie questions how they're supposed to find the Malivore portal. However, that is their assignment for today. He believes that if Cleo could summon one monster, she could do it again, but with a harmless one. He expects them to work together while he's gone, as he'll be meeting with another supernatural scholar about another lead. They'll summon the monster when he returns. Lizzie refuses to work with Hope and seeks out Kaleb since MG has decided to leave the boarding school. Kaleb is moping, but at least she's doing something. Lizzie explains that MG has enrolled at Mystic Falls High this morning and that he'll be staying with Josie in town. Kaleb, however, is doing research, particularly searching comics for ideas. He proposes they summon a pixie, a kinder, gentler version of a genie. They grant wishes in exchange for favors and they could wish the Malivore portal closed. Lizzie has an idea and leaves. Lizzie finds Cleo jogging and welcomes her to their squad as her mentor. Cleo questions what it is that is expected of her and Lizzie explains just one super-heroic event. However, Hope interrupts them, realizing what Lizzie was attempting to do-summon a monster behind their back. She knows Hope just as well and quips back that she was planning to do the same thing, but probably would have released something far worse. However, before they can even perform a summoning spell, the next monster has already been released. The creature is unknown to them, but it can talk. Cleo warns them they must be wary but it runs away. Lizzie and Hope give chase but lose it by the pool. They discuss options on how to capture it, but it causes chaos and knocks Lizzie into the pool. Lizzie mistakes Hope for knocking her into the pool and demands for her to stay out of her way. People get hurt when she doesn't. While in the show, the creature mimics her voice and causes more tension between her and Hope. Hope confronts her, but she doesn't have any idea what she's talking about. With tension coming to ahead, Hope opts to have it out. She declares that she's saved her and the school over a dozen times. However, Lizzie counters back, questioning just how many times she has also put them all in grave, life-threatening danger. The truth is, Hope is only there for them when she needs something. Landon and Cleo intervene. Cleo believes they're both telling the truth. Hope didn't push Lizzie into the pool and Lizzie didn't spread the rumor over the intercom. It's the creature. Kaleb brings news that the monster has molted and Landon realizes that it's a gremlin. They retire to the library and continue to research the monster. It feeds off of disrespect. She has an idea and offers to use Landon as bait. It's a great idea and they'll be waiting. Lizzie and Hope guard Landon and set a trap, while Cleo and Kaleb continue researching on how to stop the gremlin. However, as they watchover Landon, they learn that the gremlin is moving away from the school using a locator spell and it's molted skin. Kaleb appears and reveals that the gremlin has kidnapped Cleo. Landon stays behind to continue research and Kaleb, Hope and her give chase for the gremlin. They find Cleo trapped in a well but Lizzie believes that it's a trap and the whole thing is too easy. The gremlin has grown considerably in size and appears more monstrous than before. Landon arrives and has figured out how to defeat the monster. They have to respect each other. Kaleb distracts the creature as Lizzie and Hope talk out their issues with one another as Landon frees Cleo from the well. Eventually, their mutual respect for one another weakens the gremlin to the point where Hope can step on it. Later that night, Lizzie searches the woods looking for the Malivore portal. She figured the monster was taking Cleo to it, and that if she could find it, Hope might be able to finally chill. Hope suggests that they could work on it together and offers for her to join her and Landon for a movie night. Lizzie opens up to her and expresses that though they may share so much in common, there's something they don't. Her going to extremes got her what she wanted, but Josie isn't here for her. And as much as she tries to be tough like her, she just misses her sister. Eventually, Lizzie agrees to tag along and watch Gremlins with her and Landon since she's not had any luck with finding the portal. In All's Well That Ends Well, Lizzie surprises Josie at Mystic Falls High School. She's upset that Josie told their father about her crush before telling her own sister. However, she's there to help her win her heart. Josie doesn't want Lizzie's help, determined to fix it the regular way and without any magic. Josie leaves and Lizzie nearly runs into MG. To escape him, she casts a cloaking spell on herself. Waiting around until the period ends, she's decided to help Josie, regardless of her approval. Lizzie knocks Josie's books from her hands and Finch helps pick them up as they talk. They agree to meet for lunch and Finch leaves. Lizzie makes herself known to Josie and drags her over to the lockers. Step one is complete and they move on to number two. She reassures her sister that she's getting the girl. Later, Lizzie gives her a 'class' on rom-coms and tells her that step two is sneaking out to a bad party together. They can skip step three and step four is where the real fireworks happen. Josie doesn't like what Lizzie is suggesting and doesn't want to manipulate Finch. She wants her to actually like her without interference from Lizzie. However, she is blunt with Josie, informing her that she'll never get that it happen because that would actually require her to shoot her shot. This upsets her and she makes up her mind to ask her out on a real date and storms out of the classroom. Dorian picks up on the reverse psychology and realizes that this is alternate step two. Extroverted sister provokes her introverted sister out of her comfort zone. Josie returns back to Lizzie that afternoon, saddened. Finch had plans and they believe she's missed her shot and is dating someone else. Lizzie still believes that Josie could win her back but she is content with letting Finch be happy. However, she wants to know who she's dating and if it's serious. Lizzie offers to do some invisible spying. That night, Lizzie follows Finch into the basement as she begins chaining herself up. Finch, with her enhanced senses, can smell Lizzie and grabs her by the throat. She releases the cloaking spell and appears before her and apologizes for not knowing she was a werewolf. Finch wants to know who she is, but Lizzie offers to help her with her chains. However, it's already too late and Finch tells her to run as she completes the shift. She runs and hides in a classroom as Finch stalks her, but MG appears and lures her away. MG lures her out the front while she escapes through the back exit. Much later, Lizzie comes back to the Gilbert House to inform Josie what's happening albeit with abbreviated details. She lies to Josie and explains that Finch is seeing someone else and it's serious, opting that this will help keep her away from magic and the supernatural. She thanks her sister for keeping her from months of spiraling, but Lizzie admits that she should have let her find out on her own. She confesses that she felt like Josie no longer needed her, but she's feeling the same way given their separation. Lizzie stays the night with her and, according to twin code, they cuddle. In You Can't Run From Who You Are, it's the morning after the full moon and she tracks Finch to a barn with MG and Ethan. After Ethan leaves, she uncloaks herself, learns that he's been playing superhero with a human. With Finch back in her human form, they discuss what to do with her as she's killed someone, having activated her curse. Finch wakes up hearing this and denies such an act, not knowing her heritage. Lizzie explains that being a werewolf is, one, genetic, meaning it was passed to her from a family member and, that, second, she's had to kill someone. Finch doesn't understand how she knows such information and questions how she became invisible the previous night. Siphoning from MG, Lizzie demonstrates a spell creating an orb of light in her hand. She tells her that she's a witch as well as Josie's sister. Finch is adamant that she's not a killer and Lizzie wants her to prove it as she's not letting Josie anywhere near a coldblooded killer. To find out the truth, they decide to perform a vampire head dive. He and Lizzie can be present inside of her memories as events unfold, like invisible witnesses, and they can learn the truth of what happened. In her memories, they learn of Finch's suppressed memory of her ailing grandfather. Only a child, Finch helps grandfather commit suicide by overdosing on his pills. With the truth revealed, MG pulls them out of the head dive and Finch storms off, learning that she killed the only person that cared about her. Outside the barn, Lizzie tells her that everything is going to be okay. Finch is horrified, a memory that she'll have to live with for the rest of her life. She offers Finch that she knows a spell that can put memory blocks in place. Finch refuses the offer, explaining that she has to remember what her grandpa said. She can't trust anyone and needs to look out for herself. In reality, it's too bad because she really liked Josie. With her mind made up, she walks off, leaving Lizzie alone. That night, MG walks back to the Salvatore School with her. She offers for him to stick around, and they could eat rocky road ice cream and talk about how she ruined Finch's life, as well as any shot that Josie had with her. MG declines, but wonders if she'll tell Alaric about Ethan. She won't rat him out and asks her for advice. He doesn't want to compel his memories away, but he doesn't like lying to her dad. Lizzie admits that playing 'superhero' with a human is probably a terrible idea, but who is she to judge? She was wrong about Finch and wrong for siphoning him and taking the ascendant. She's probably not the right person to ask and believes she should also stop pretending like she knows the answer all the time. She, however, believes that he'll make the right decision; he always does. In the same spirit, she wonders what she should do about Josie. If it was him, he'd try telling her the truth. She can handle it and she can make her own decisions about who she's dating. He also tells her that Finch was wrong. She's not a monster. Everything she did today was to protect someone she loves and people should feel lucky if they get to be one of those people. At the gate, MG parts ways with her. In I Was Made To Love You, Lizzie magically sends Josie a letter. In it she writes that she's made a mess of things, as usual. She's decided to take off for a while, a wiccan retreat, to help her break her pattern on her end. However, concerning her, she needs to tell her something about Finch, that she's a werewolf. In This Feels A Little Cult-y, a week or so later, Josie and Hope arrive at the wellness retreat. Lizzie greets them and Hope learns that Josie tricked her into coming. Lizzie takes them on a tour. Witches frockle and dance around; they're euphoric and free. Hope is more pessimistic and describes the situation as if everyone is on drugs. She merely tells her that it's a retreat for witches, led by Andi. Since she's been there, she's been a real mentor to her and helped her to reframe her mindset. Josie inquires about all the crystals that the witches are wearing. Lizzie explains to them that each color represents a different step on the pathway to enlightenment. Around her neck, blue, is the top step, which allows her to participate in a sacred purification ritual in the week to come. Hope points out Samantha's red crystal and asks why she's subjugated to sacred dirt duty. Lizzie elaborates that she was Andi's star pupil. However, after her own arrival to the retreat, she let her petty jealousy and anger knock her down several pegs. Meanwhile another blue crystal witch summons the witches for afternoon enrichment. All are welcomed and Lizzie decides to take them to meet Andi. Andi stands before the witches; new and old faces. She eventually takes Hope as a new candidate and has her lay her hand on the crystal before them. The crystal reacts to her negative emotions and shines a bright red, but is overwhelmed with her power. Taking Hope by the hand, her emotional state and the crystal changes immediately. The witches applaud them as Andi has found a new star pupil. Like Samantha, Lizzie is overwhelmed from her negative emotions and her crystal immediately turns red. Ashamed, she seeks out Andi at her cabin. After noticing her crystal is missing, Lizzie confesses that she's had a setback and shows her the red hue. She explains that she was jealous of her working with Hope as she's heard it all before. She wonders if she could juice her back up to be prepared for the ritual next week, but Andi politely refuses. Given recent events she decided to move the ceremony up. Andi explains that since Hope is so powerful, she doesn't need to recruit more witches. The ritual will happen later this evening. Lizzie seeks out her guidance and wonders what she must do. Andi tells her that she must follow the path of the red crystal. Doing as instructed, Lizzie performs red crystal tasks, such as communal clothes washing. Samantha is there too and finds one of Andi's gloves. They fight over it, but ultimately lose. However, rubbing it on her face, Samantha's crystal changes back to blue and her attitude completely changes. Lizzie wants to see the glove, too, but Samantha leaves her to finish the wash. Learning that something isn't right, Lizzie returns to Andi's cabin to spy on her. Andi has other gloves that she disposes of with metal tongs. After Andi disappears to shower, Lizzie sneaks into her cabin to search through her things. In one of her drawers, she finds a vial from Triad Industries. Startled, she drops the vial, breaking it on the floor. Lizzie sneaks away just as Andi comes out of the bathroom to find the broken vial. Heading back to the common area, she finds Josie and Hope. Hope was right and this place is a cult, not a wellness site. However, Andi summons the witches to another gathering and Lizzie suggests they leave. Josie and Hope, however, are now under the drug's psychotropic effects and Hope casting a sleeping spell on her. Lizzie wakes in Andi's cabin. Andi's impressed that Lizzie has broken her hold over her and believes she can't be mind controlled anymore with the drug's psychotropic effects. She explains her past to her and how she was imprisoned by Triad. Lizzie doesn't see any difference in what Andi is now doing with the witches and demands to know what the ritual is for. Andi refuses to give out that information as it's privileged only to blue crystal witches. Josie appears at the door and Andi asks her to bring Lizzie to the ritual for the grand finale; she will be their human sacrifice. Now alone with Josie, she believes she can break the drug's effects over her and begins to insult her. She compares their dynamic to the mind controlled witches. Josie wanted to be independent but that didn't last long and is already back at the Salvatore school. Eventually her plan works and Josie snaps out of it. She also has another plan. She instructs Josie to continue to play along and take her to the ritual site so that they can get close enough to Hope to bring back her negative emotions to break the drug's effects. However, arriving at the ritual site, Samantha knocks her unconscious. Coming too, she learns that Josie followed through with her plan and freed Hope who has taken out the witches. Andi is the last to remain and she, Josie, and Hope confront her. The ritual has seemingly been foiled so they question her. Andi explained that she experienced the drug first hand and knew it would be easier to catch flies with honey than vinegar. She knew not what the ritual was for, only that it was a summoning ritual. She would have done anything to be free of Triad. However, with missing memories, they connect that whoever she dealt with also involved Malivore. Andi only remembers that the deal was bound with an unbreakable covenant spell and, if she failed the ritual, she would die. Hope comments that she's already failed. Andi weighs her options and decides to sacrifice herself as she's dead regardless of what she does and that she'll know peace as the three of them will have to deal with what her death will raise. Before diving into the crater, she throws drug-filled chalice at the three of them, and completes the ritual. That night, she, Josie, and Hope begin to suffer the effects of the psychotropic drug and begin to hallucinate. Eventually, Andi's death raises a creature from the depths of the crater in a towering burst of fire. In A New Hope, Lizzie continues to suffer from the effects of Triad's psychotropic drug that Andi threw on her, Josie, and Hope. As a side effect, they share a hallucination based on a story that she wrote when she was young, as well as a sequel that Hope wrote about. She is Princess Elizabeth Saltzstar, and her sister is J-O 513, a service android. Eventually the drug's effects wear of and the three of them wake up next to the crater at the wellness retreat. Hope believes that her fate is sealed, but she and Josie try to give her words of encouragement. Lizzie apologizes to her for them not being able to realize the reasons why she was hurting all those years ago. However, it's different now. They're different. She's still a work in progress, but definitely a better version of Lizzie Saltzman. Even Josie has become stronger and more independent. There is no reason why she can't be whatever she wants, too. A new Hope. Josie believes that Hope only became the tribrid in their shared hallucination because she did it alone. She has friends and she and Josie won't let that happen. As they give her a hug, Hope notices footprints leading away from the crater. They follow them to Andi's cabin. Someone is in the shower. Ryan Clark, wrapped in a towel, newly raised from Andi's death, exits and stands before them. In Fate's A Bitch, Isn't It?, she, Josie and Hope confront Ryan. However, Lizzie opts to cut the conversation short as both Hope and Josie continue to give Ryan pertinent information. Ryan has a plan to stop Malivore, but Lizzie is uninterested and casts a sleeping spell on him. She decides that the adults at school can handle him once they return to Mystic Falls. Ultimately, Josie and Hope agree and they load him into their car and make their way back to the school. On their way back to the school, they stop at Lakeshore Stop 'n' Shop for gas and travel snacks. After Josie joins Lizzie inside, Hope steals the car with Ryan, wanting to see his options for defeating Malivore. She and Josie are stranded at the gas station. Josie attempts to get in contact with someone at the school but nobody answers the phone. Lizzie contemplates walking home, but Josie is more concerned for Hope working with Ryan. However, Lizzie decides they need to find Hope a rebound following Landon. By happenstance, Ethan pulls up into the gas station and offers them a ride back to the school. Later that night, they arrived back at the school with her plan in full effect. She's not stopped talking about Hope in the hopes to get Ethan to like her. Commenting on the school, she offers to take Ethan on an impromptu tour, but Josie immediately objects too. Lizzie ultimately ignores her objections and brings Ethan in and begins the tour while continuing to hype up Hope. Despite everything, he believes that Lizzie's is awesome, throwing arm included. He wonders if the school has a field and proposes they head outside. She can continue to discuss Hope if she accepts. Believing that her plan is working, she accepts his deal. Out on the field, they toss the football back and forth at one another. Jokingly, he tells her to take it easy on him, and she accidentally brings up last year's football game and quickly apologizes for bringing up the incident. Ethan brushes it off, believing that things happen for a reason and she's not to blame. She reminds him that they're supposed to be talking about Hope, but they've already covered a lot of ground. She asks him if he has any questions, but he jokingly asks if she always spends this much time worrying about other people's romantic lives. Answering, she explains she's only been recently because it beats talking about her own relationships. She gives him a short explanation on why she's still single but Ethan assures her that someone will come along. Returning inside, she surprises Josie with news that her plan failed. But more importantly, Ethan asked her out and she said 'yes'. Sometime later, Hope returns to the school and casts the purge spell returning their memories of Cleo. Hope apologizes to her and Josie for running out on them. Of all people, it was Ryan who really made it set in and she promises them to never do it again. With news that Malivore has taken control of his vessel, Landon, she joins Hope and the others in the gymnasium to confront Malivore. |
In You Have to Pick One This Time, Lizzie attends the emergency squad meeting with Alaric, Kaleb, Josie, and MG. Hope barges into the session surprised about that and the barrier spell on the cage holding Malivore. Alaric explains that the session was about how they're going to deal with Malivore and how she would fit into that plan. Hope stays and listens to MG and eventually asks about Landon. Lizzie mocks her that she finally got around to asking, although it took her longer than expected. Hope admits it's a good plan, but they're afraid of how she acts to get Landon. Josie confirms that's the reason why they placed the barrier spell to stop her.
In accordance with their plan, she and Hope make a show of it in front of Malivore. Alaric even tranquilizes Hope to make things look good.
Lizzie checks in on Josie in the library, questioning if she's canceled her plans with Finch, unaware of Finch's presence. Finch takes the cancelation well and wishes them luck. Lizzie and Josie join Alaric and Kaleb in the gym. Malivore is aware of their plan to perform a head dive and search his mind. Malivore reminds them that he's aware of their actions, meaning they'll be dealing with his conscious mind. Lizzie wants to call off the plan, but Kaleb and Alaric go through with it. With Malivore distracted, MG and Hope perform their own head dive to search his subconscious for Cleo.
Meanwhile, Lizzie and Josie standby and watch over the pair should their plan backfire. Lizzie sits on the gym floor, siphoning magic from the school. Josie blows up at her, telling her to stop telling her how she should feel, admitting that she can be dismissive about her relationships. Lizzie quips that she and Finch aren't serious, again to Finch's awkward appearance. Finch has decided to join them since Josie couldn't make their date. She even brought a compatibility quiz so the three of them could get better familiar with one another.
As they sit and ask and answer various questions, she dismisses their relationship again, asking if Finch has ever had a relationship that ended up breaking her heart. Despite Josie's pleas, Finch answers the question, citing that people grow and change and you just hope it's in the same direction. Finch takes over asking questions, and wonders where they see themselves on their 25th birthday. The mood turns sour and awkward, but Lizzie notices that Malivore has awakened from the head dive, seeing MG and Hope on their secret mission.
Lizzie attempts to pull them out of the head dive, but Malivore isn't letting them leave. Finch learns that Malivore is the group project that Josie spoke about and offers to help any way she can. Lizzie turns her down, citing this is strictly witch territory. Josie's located a spell to sever any mental connection, but the problem is it's a chain spell, meaning they need to siphon from a person and not the school. Finch offers to let them siphon from her, as much as they need, despite the risks.
As Lizzie prepares the spell, Finch reveals she's been researching around the library, learning she's a Gemini witch. She found some interesting information, but it was incomplete. Lizzie breaks up their conversation to begin the spell. As they cast the spell, eventually, Kaleb, Alaric, MG and Hope are released from Malivore's hold on their minds.
Later that night, Lizzie sits on her bed as Hope checks in on her. She's having another existential crisis, but Hope offers to sit with her. She apologizes to Hope for always shooting down her and Landon's relationship, admitting she does it with Josie's, too. Similar to Emma's therapy sessions, Hope mimics Emma asking why she might do that. Lizzie answers truthfully, that it's because she has something that she never really had but she's pretty sure she wants. Love. The kind that is soft and builds on mutual respect, that grows over time. Hope wonders if she should have this conversation with MG, but confesses he hasn't been around. Even though Ethan has, she had to cancel on him. Hope suggests that she un-cancel, but she doesn't believe she's ready. Hope doesn't think anyone is ever ready for that kind of love and that it just happens. Lizzie asks if she'll continue to sit with her until she falls asleep; Hope accepts. Into the night, Lizzie wakes to Hope's burst of inspiration.
In There's No I In Team, or Whatever, Lizzie magically tries to dress up the Movie in the Square t-shirt, but nothing works for her. Josie, laying on her bed, reminds her that she's a volunteer, but Lizzie wants to look cute for Ethan so they can enjoy the movie after setting up. She's unsure if he's epic romance material and has even compiled a checklist, one of which is willing to risk his life.
At the Town Square, Lizzie and Ethan continue with Movie in the Square preparations. They bond over common interests, and Lizzie even suggests a potential second date, doing something they both enjoy.
Later, she talks with Kaleb. Despite their common interests, she doesn't feel that that spark of romance. Unlike her, Kaleb is stuck shilling out popcorn to townies instead of rescuing Cleo. She reminds him that they're here so Hope and the others don't have to be. Lizzie siphons from him and causes the popcorn machine to explode spewing popcorn everywhere. Ethan rushes over to help Lizzie.
As night approaches, Lizzie and Ethan enjoy the movie, but gets up to grab a milkshake. However, she notices Ryan Clarke and walks over to confront him. He explains that he doesn't remember getting there, but again loses control to the dybbuk possessing him. His body transforms into a monster and moves to attack her, but Ethan intervenes, stepping up to fight off the misshapen "bully". The dybbuk easily swats him away, knocking him unconscious. With her back turned to check on Ethan, the dybbuk knocks her out, too.
Lizzie's held captive by the dybbuk who threatens to burn her alive. Kaleb arrives and attempts to confine the monster, but his superior strength knocks him through a wall. Hope whips the transfusion braid around the dybbuk's hand and performs the transfusion ritual, transferring the dybbuk out of Ryan, saving him.
Kaleb, Lizzie, and Hope rush Ryan back to the hospital. Lizzie confides to Kaleb that Ethan coming to rescue her was an epic move. She also thanks Kaleb for saving her, but he admits that Hope was the one to actually save her. With Ryan healed and taken care of, the three of them return to the Salvatore School, learning that Malivore has escaped with Ethan.
In We All Knew This Day Was Coming, at the Salvatore School, Lizzie and other witches work on locator spells, searching for Malivore and Ethan, who had been abducted. Their efforts are in vain.
Lizzie checks in on MG, who's listening for any clues on a police scanner, but he's not found anything out yet. Lizzie feels for Hope because her father lied to her, again. MG sticks up for Alaric, believing that he was doing what he thought was right. Sometimes you have to prioritize the greater good. Lizzie thinks that if she hadn't gone on the date with Ethan, then he'd probably be safe. He reassures her that it's not her fault. Ethan wanted to be supernatural before, even trying to get MG to turn him but he wouldn't do it. Either way, MG left him defenseless. However, to Lizzie, it sounds like MG chose the greater good. Over the scanner, the dispatcher mentions a 10-66 at the packing plant. It's a suspicious person.
Lizzie, Alaric, MG, Kaleb, and Josie arrive at the packing plant just in time to see the creature fall, but when Hope turns back, they realize that the monster was another missing student; Blake.
They return to the school, as Hope and Alaric storms off. MG and Kaleb use their enhanced hearing to listen in on their conversation and they learn that Hope is adamant on turning. Alaric leaves and wants them to reconvene in the library, though she and Josie remain behind to support Hope.
As Hope gathers supplies, she and Josie approach her. They're here for Hope and ask what she needs. Hope needs a favor. There's someone that knows Landon and she needs them to get her there. Lizzie and Josie send Hope to the 2028 prison world to talk to Rafael.
Later, she and Josie pull her from the prison world. Hope is surround by her friends and classmates. They've set up a meal at the Old Mill to spend Hope's last day alive together. Hope accepts.
Wade and others share stories about Hope, such as she casting a spell on a professor to only speak Sumerian or when she was taken control of by the slug. They enjoy her company and laugh at the various stories. MG asks what she'll miss most. Hope recounts that witches lose their abilities to do magic when they complete their transition. Not being able to cast another spell is something she'd miss, particularly with Lizzie and Josie. Speaking of, they've prepared a spell for the three of them to cast on another part of the school grounds. They join hands in a circle of branches and other herbs and as they cast the spell, the nearby Cherry trees begin to blossom. Beneath them, a sapling sprouts. They explain that it's a promise of new life and a life full of promise. The three of them embrace in a hug as Alaric approaches. Hope is now ready.
That night, Lizzie sits with Alaric and wonders how long it would take for Hope to wake up. After a few hours, she'll awaken in transition and then she'll need to feed to complete it. Lizzie questions if that is an option she or Josie should consider, believing it would solve the Merge. Alaric believes in theory it would be possible. Lizzie's unsure if that's what she wants, becoming a vampire, but it's an option. The day they're afraid of just might come. Lizzie would like to talk about the Merge more instead of it being a big, unspoken thing and Alaric accepts.
Later, Lizzie comes to join MG to watch over Hope with tea and sodas. However, she finds him unconscious on the floor. There's a burning hole in the balcony doors, the room is partially destroyed and Hope is gone.
In See You On The Other Side, Lizzie, Alaric, and MG learn from Jed that Ethan and Kaleb, enthralled by Malivore are going from house to house enthralling townies with black goo. They need to save the townies and find a way to bring back Landon and Cleo. Alaric is aware of Malivore's plan. He's trying to split them up and fight on multiple fronts. However, that's exactly the plan; he knows what each of them are capable of doing. Alaric will go to the abandoned train station, alone and face the townies to rescue Hope. He leaves the other two fronts to MG to lead. Lizzie and MG will see if they can free Ethan and Kaleb, and Josie and Jed will find a way to rescue Cleo and Landon.
MG and Lizzie track Ethan to Mystic Falls High School. Lizzie is to help Dorian evacuate the building while he'll search for Ethan. However, if she's to encounter him first, MG pleads with her not to hurt him. He's been hurt by the supernatural enough. Lizzie leaves MG and enters the school.
As MG defends himself against Malivore controlled Ethan Lizzie appears behind Ethan and grabs his head, siphoning. Ethan falls over onto the floor. Lizzie devised her own plan to save both the school and them. However, MG quickly learns that Ethan's no longer breathing.
Lizzie and MG perform chest compression on Ethan. Lizzie is upset that she's killed the one boy in the world that likes her. MG reassures her that he's not going to die and reminds her that he likes her too. She's shocked, but that gives him an idea. He wants her to use her magic to give his heart a shock to resuscitate him. He believes in her and Lizzie siphons him in time and casts the spell. Ethan gasps awake.
Lizzie and MG talk; she's concerned that Ethan will hate them since his compulsion will wear off now that he's supernatural. He doesn't know how Ethan will take things but knows that Lizzie was a hero today. She explains that a guy she seriously likes was in danger, but doesn't elude to who, him or Ethan. Ethan appears before them with beers stashed in his locker room. He's happy, by all accounts. They both saved his life and that makes them even. He bets that Alaric has booze at the Salvatore School and suggests they head back over. He's considering enrolling, now that he's supernatural.
In I Thought You'd Be Happier To See Me, Lizzie is awoken by Deputy Lorde knocking on the doors of the Salvatore School. He's looking for someone in charge. Lizzie leaves to go wake her father, but the deputy stops her. He tells her he has some bad news concerning her father.
Lizzie and Josie are at the hospital, the former an emotional wreck. Alaric has spent his life protecting this town and now his life is in the hands of doctors who she feels aren't smart enough to save him. Dorian is out of the country visiting Emma and their mom is in the Congo. She believes that MG's blood can fix their dad. As Lizzie is ranting Josie reminds her to calm down. Everyone can hear her, though Lizzie refuses. Alaric is fighting for his life. They've already lost Landon, Josie fully believes that their dad is going to pull through. There's no reason to think of any other outcome. MG arrives, using his vamp hearing to listen to Alaric's updated status. He's out of surgery and stable. Lizzie wants MG to see him soon, but he's not sure if he'll be able to fix him. Kaleb and Cleo arrive shortly after, asking about Alaric and Hope. Lizzie is furious to see him.
Kaleb's off the phone with Finch. He learns that Hope's not at the school, and he's obviously missed something big while away. MG explains that Professor Vardemus has explained that since Alaric is in a coma, their blood can't heal him enough to wake him. The human brain doesn't heal so easily. The doctors have also stopped by and told them that they won't know the extent of the damage until Alaric wakes up; if he wakes up, Lizzie retorts. Cleo has an idea. Like they reached her in Malivore, they want them to use a head dive. They might be able to find and bring him back. Lizzie admits that's a good idea, but doesn't trust Kaleb enough to do it since he sold them out to Malivore. She entrusts the task to MG, who accepts. As they depart, Kaleb admits he deserved that. Cleo believes that Hope could need their help if there was another monster involved. Together, they set off to find her.
Lizzie, Josie, and MG dive into Alaric's mind. They replay his last memory of his confrontation against Hope, learning she's the one who's attacked him and left him in a coma. Left for dead, Lizzie rushes over to Alaric, though he's only a memory. Lizzie is furious. If Hope was here right now, she'd kill her. Josie doesn't believe that killing Hope is no longer possible. Though it doesn't matter. Her humanity is off and she doesn't want them around. Lizzie believes the best way they can protect their friends is to keep them in the dark. If they knew Hope was the one to do this, they would want to go after her and she'd likely end up murdering them, too. Josie demands for her to stop saying that. Their father is alive, all they have to do is find him. They're in his mind, so he has to be here somewhere. Josie believes that his psyche has left them a trail to follow and they set off.
They come to another memory, or a nightmare of Josie's. It's their eleventh birthday and it was utter chaos. Lizzie remembers it being sweet, but Josie has another account. They got into a fight with Alaric because he brought Hope, who they didn't invite. Josie remembers that Hope then filled their cake with worms and Lizzie retaliated with a Motus spell. Hope tried to Incendia Lizzie's dress and she put up a shield spell and it deflected her and set their presents on fire. She questions why their dad would want to revisit this day. Lizzie muses that it's the day they learned Hope was evil and when he actually took their side. They continue with the memory, and find Alaric and young Hope in his office. However, it's not quite what Lizzie expected. Josie wants to leave, since that's not their father, it's the memory, but Lizzie wants to see what he said to her. Alaric is disappointed with Hope, but eventually Alaric consoles Hope and takes her side. Much to Lizzie's dismay, they push through to another memory.
Lizzie and Josie find another, older memory of Alaric as the school was under construction. He's arguing with Emma, believing they can't open the school if they enroll Hope Mkaelson. Emma's psych evaluation is full of red flags, but she believes that's the point of the school. Alaric refuses. Hope has the potential to be the most powerful supernatural being who ever existed and she's a ticking time bomb. Emma doesn't like that phrase, more pointedly, him changing her words. In her professional opinion, if they screwed up, the decision would likely haunt them for the rest of their lives, but far less than not trying. She reminds him of all the good that Hope is capable of doing under the right guidance. Alaric's mind is made up and he leaves. Before they can continue, they're forced out of his mind. Lizzie is mad at MG, but it wasn't his fault. Alaric seizes and his heart monitor races as a group of nurses crowd his room.
Later, Josie informs MG that Alaric has had a hemorrhagic stroke. A fancy way of saying his brain is bleeding. They don't believe they can do anything to fix it. His brain is still showing signs of activity, and he may still be able to hear them, though the prognosis is grim. MG doesn't accept them. Alaric has alway taught them to try harder, to be better than humans. The timing is off, but he admits they've been going about this all wrong. There's no point in following Alaric around, they need to get ahead of him and figure out where he'll go next. Lizzie believes it will be about Hope, but MG disagrees. He's been there with them and believes he knows exactly where Dr. Saltzman will go next. Josie proposes that one of them remain behind, just in case something happens. Josie finally accepts there could be another outcome. She doesn't want to be alone either, and MG decides to go with her.
Lizzie and MG head back into Alaric's subconsciousness. This time, they're in Whitmore Medical Center. It's the night she and her sister were born on March 15. Lizzie thinks that MG's screwed up, though Alaric bursts through the doors. This time, he isn't a memory and calls out to her. They rush towards one another and embrace in a hug. MG found him. Given their expressions, Alaric assumes things aren't going so well in the real world. He remembers what happened, but he believes that his life is flashing before his eyes. He admits there haven't been too many highlights but seeing Lizzie, now, is a sight. He asks about Joise, but she wouldn't leave her side. Lizzie wants to go and bring him back with them, but he's not sure he can. Alaric tells her that beyond the door is him holding her and Josie for the first time, and giving them their names. She questions why he's never told them the story before, but brushes off that it was a complicated delivery and thought he would have more time with his daughters. Their time begins to dwindle, as the hallway begins to dim and darken. He fears he's out of time and apologizes to her.
Lizzie doesn't understand why he wants to apologize. Alaric explains that he wants to apologize to her, and Josie, while he still can, for failing them. All these memories, the school, his whole life after this day became about one thing—protecting the both of them and making sure they remain protected, even after he was gone. That is why he changed his mind about Hope, though he came to realize that if they could have turned out so well, so could she. He imagined a world where they became friends and, even, family where they would protect each other. He believes he's let her down and pleads with her to forgive him. MG, too. MG immediately believes he doesn't have too. He's made plenty of mistakes, but offers his forgiveness freely. Lizzie, however, refuses too. She wants him to forget about walking off into the light and demands him to come back with them and for him to make it up to them and apologize to Josie. But just in case, he apologizes anyway. He's sorry for when he wasn't there for her and her sister, for all the times he prioritized Hope or being headmaster over being their father. For not telling them more often how perfect he thinks they both are in his eyes, and all the flaws that they think they have are what makes them. Ultimately, he's sorry for leaving them in a world more dangerous than before, when all he wanted to do was make it safer. However, he knows they'll figure it out, better than he could. He tells her he loves her and has her promise him that she and her sister will take care of each other, no matter what. Lizzie clings to Alaric as they're engulfed in darkness.
Lizzie and Josie sit in the waiting room. Josie is regretting her decision and she should have been there with her. All she did was watch as he slowly slipped away. She should have told Lizzie she wanted her to stay behind instead. But she didn't. She needs to get better, because they have a way of staying with her. Lizzie apologizes and, again, admits she's selfish. Something she doesn't say often. They forgive each other and Lizzie resolves to find a way to bring their dad back. As they leave the hospital, the school is there, holding a candlelight vigil, supporting them and Alaric. Finch embraces Josie in a hug and kiss as Jed plays his guitar. Kaleb and Cleo arrive in time for Wade to light them a candle. Lizzie embraces Ethan in a hug, then MG before bringing them all together. Kaleb confronts Lizzie and appears to reconcile their differences.
In You're A Long Way From Home, in Alaric's office, Lizzie skips Ms. Featherwood's class and Josie berates her for it. Lizzie scours numerous texts, looking for something to help her father, claiming that people grieve in different ways. However, Josie keeps having to remind her that their father isn't dead. Alaric remains in a coma, not exactly alive, as Lizzie puts it and scolds Josie for missing their meeting from hours prior. Josie explains that she was with the others, attempting to figure out what to do about Hope. This angers Lizzie, believing that Josie is more sympathetic for Hope as opposed to their dad, since the former was the one to put him into a coma in the first place. However, Josie rebuttals that they saw all the same memories and this isn't what their dad would want. Besides if anyone is powerful enough to heal him, Josie believes it's her. She's mad too, but they can't do this without her. Lizzie believes otherwise and puts Alaric first. If Lizzie finds a spell to help, she'll be there to help. As Lizzie rifles through more books, a secret compartment opens, revealing Alaric's journals. Within one, there's an ancient spell, something she believes that can help.
Cleo admires life from the Red Oak tree in the garden, noting that it's grown so quickly. Lizzie has been looking for her. As much as she'd love to get lost in a memory, she needs some translation help because she's not a polyglot. Cleo knows enough to realize that the symbols are ancient. Lizzie believes that, based on the drawings, it's a spell to bring someone back to life. She questions if thought it would work on Alaric. Cleo tells her that this spell may be further than she should consider going. Lizzie questions just how far the spell asks to take her. The spell, however, would require a human sacrifice.
Josie confronts Lizzie, gathering ingredients for her spell. She doesn't want to believe it, but Cleo was right. Lizzie admits that she wanted a spell and Lizzie has found one, no less in one of Alaric's journals. Josie tells her they can't go through with this spell because they're not murderers. Lizzie, however, wants to do the spell. People die in that hospital every day, all they need to do is find someone who's really sick. Dying a day early won't make a difference, plus they'll be saving a life, too. Josie is adamant that Alaric wouldn't want to come back this way, but Lizzie disagrees. There was a time in Alaric's life where there was no such thing as too far. If Lizzie won't listen to her, then the others are just outside and won't make it past them. Lizzie however prepared for that. She has the Illusion Ring and intends to walk right past them as her. Puting the ring on her finger, she appears as Josie. She siphons from the ring and casts a sleeping spell on Josie.
At the hospital, Lizzie cloaked as a nurse finds a patient in critical condition. The Doctor explains that all they can do is keep him comfortable.
Lizzie prepares the spell to save their father with the other dying man. As she casts the spell, a young woman beats on the locked door, wanting to see her dad. Lizzie tells her just a second and tries to keep going, but her pleas reach Lizzie. The girl wants to say goodbye to her father and Lizzie stops the spell.
Exiting the room and collapsing to the floor, Josie approaches her. Josie knows she didn't go through with it, but Lizzie admits that she almost did. She found someone on the brink of death, but his daughter was there, similar to their own situation. She thought she knew what the right thing was, but she always talked to her dad about it. Without him, she feels like she doesn't know what the right thing to do is anymore and feels like everything is on pause now. She can't guarantee she won't do something worse tomorrow. Coming to terms with her actions, she admits she needs help and rests her head on Josie's shoulder for comfort.
Cleo is ejected from the Chambre de Chasse device as Lizzie and Josie enter the gym. They would like to use the Therapy Box and ask for a minute alone.
In Someplace Far Away From All This Violence, in the Therapy Box, Lizzie travels in a stagecoach to a small western town, driven by Wade. He warns her that she's arrived at a bad time as the town is having a hanging the next day. He explains that a school teach has murdered his students and burned up his school. The hanging will occur at noon tomorrow that is unless Lizzie can stop it. She is the school teacher's daughter and means to prove her father's innocence.
Lizzie confronts her father who's sitting in a jail cell. People are calling him a monster for what he's done. Lizzie reassures him it's all hogwash, because he moved to this town to enlighten uncivilized people and questions what really happened. Alaric, however, has no recollection. One minute he's teaching and the next he's covered in ash and blood and her sister missing. There's a dark spot over his memory. He questions if he could have really done this, but Lizzie counters that he couldn't have. All he knows is that he found a necklace when he woke up, but doesn't recall where it came from either. Lizzie takes the necklace and vows to free him and see that the real perpetrators will hang and find her sister.
Night has fallen in the simulation. Lizzie is confronted by Kaleb, a hired gun. She's been asking around town about a necklace and she shows him. Kaleb explains that it's the mark of the Mikaelson gang and she should leave town. Alaric's already a dead man and she will be too if she crosses paths with Hope Mikaelson. She offers to pay him, if he's not too scared, but Kaleb says that she's no mere girl. She's a monster with not an ounce of humanity. Lizzie trades in facts and not tall tales. Kaleb retracts his offer and steps forward to her, revealing he too is a monster and apart of the Mikaelson gang. As he's about to attack, he's shot dead by a man that looks like her dad. It's her uncle Ric, and he assumes that his brother never told her about him.
Uncle Ric prepares his horse with Lizzie hot on his trails. She wants to follow and go with him. He gives her a wooden stake, though he prays that she'll never have to use it. Lizzie is determined to find Josette. Ric explains that her assailant was a vampire. She questions that if vampires are real and burned down the school, why doesn't her father remember. Ric explains that becoming a monster they get certain gifts they like to hurt innocent people with. He assures her that he will find Josette and will kill the bloodsuckers. Lizzie reaches for his gun, determined to go with him, but he rejects her, believing her soft and that they would eat her alive. He tips his hat to her and rides off into the night leaving her.
Lizzie rides horseback through a field, finding Alaric on the ground near his camp fire. Josie approaches her, asking if he's dead. She's covered in blood, but unharmed. She explains that she tried to drink it all, but it was bitter like him. She's become a monster, because of Hope. She's come to rescue her, but she's too late. Josie believes she's already been rescued and intends to do the same to Lizzie. Josie rushes towards her, but Lizzie has the wooden stake and plunges it into her chest, killing her. Josie questions why she did that, but Lizzie tells her she was already gone.
Alaric is wounded and bleeding from the neck. It looks bad, but he encourages Lizzie to go. She's already taken care of Josette. He didn't think she had it in her, and that makes two of them. He admits that he underestimated her and she's more like him than he realized. He tells her that his Isobel was turned into a vampire, too. He roamed the plains, killing the monsters in her name. Alaric believed him having gone mad. He was the smarter man and devoted his life to keeping them safe and away from him. A place far away from violence. Sometimes, violence is the only solution. Lizzie tells him that her father was wrong. They need to kill Hope, but she'll have to do it without him. He gives her two pistols, each with special bullets capable of killing Hope. Ric draws his last breaths and passes on, leaving Lizzie to wonder if she's like him or not.
Lizzie buries her sister and uncle as Hope finds her. She's prepared and plans to end her in an old fashioned pistol match, seeing who can draw their weapon quicker. Hope questions if she really believes she's faster than a vampire and they draw. Hope is quicker and shoots Lizzie in the shoulder. Nevertheless, Hope is impressed with Lizzie and offers her death or life. Lizzie chooses death and trips Hope, who falls into a makeshift cross, stabbing her in the stomach. Hope is a tribrid and believes she can't be killed. Lizzie fires several shots, killing Hope. There's always a loophole.
MG frees Alaric and tells him he has a visitor who has brought the culprit to justice. Lizzie is waiting for him, who explains that she found Josette but she didn't survive and Hope killed her. In turn, she killed Hope. Alaric wants to flee back east, never wanting this life for her. Though there's no going back now after what she's seen. Her gang is still out there. Alaric tells her that no amount of revenge will bring her sister back, but it will bring her justice to her name. Alaric didn't raise her like this, but Lizzie admits that he should have. Lizzie regains her memories, realizing she's in the therapy box simulation. She remembers that her real father was a vampire hunter once and trying to be a teacher is what put him in a coma. All her friends are trying to find a way to forgive Hope, but that's not what she wants to do, not anymore. She notices the poster on the far wall with Vindicta and says it aloud. It's her way out.
Inside the therapy box, Lizzie meets Josie. It's odd, because it's meant to be empty, but Josie explains that Hope came to the school and trapped her within. Hope isn't too far gone because she didn't kill them. Lizzie, however, knows exactly how to fix Hope. Josie doesn't understand her meaning. Lizzie's game is over and Josie's is just beginning and she's released from the box.
In You Will Remember Me, Lizzie bursts into Josie's room, claiming to MG, Cleo, and Finch that she's fine. At first, it's probably a bit scary within the therapy box, but if her experience is anything like her own, it will be revelatory. Cleo asks Lizzie about what happened to her during her simulation the previous night. She tells Cleo that she knows of a way to deal with their Hope problem. With Lizzie gone, they took their best shot at reaching Hope and failed and she doesn't want their help. Lizzie quips back that if Salvatore's Got No Talent is their best shot, then they're in major trouble. They’re lucky Hope didn't murder the entire school, though that might change if she returns. Cleo doesn't believe Hope will return to the school, but Lizzie wants to prepare in case she's wrong. They need to be ready for Hope and MG departs to train with Ethan. Finch remains by Josie's bedside in case she wakes up. Cleo asks Lizzie if she needs help with her plan, but Lizzie already knows what she needs to do. Although she can use some inspiration for the how part.
Later, while Ethan and MG are training in the gym, Lizzie interrupts them. She needs Ethan. Forgoing practice, he goes with her, leaving MG alone.
In the Garden, she and Ethan spy on MG and Cleo's conversation, learning about the Red Oak and its capabilities to kill Hope. As the two walk away, Lizzie uncloaks them from her magic. They stand there and watch as the wood goes up in flames.
With the Red Oak tree burned to ash, Lizzie finds two remaining pieces. She needs to salvage whatever they can, though Ethan reiterates that it can kill Hope. He doesn't want to be an accessory to murder. They just heard them. No one at this school will hurt her. He just got here and should see that. He questions if the therapy box taught her that, but she explains that sometimes doing the right thing means people will call you the villain. Ethan doesn't know. Malivore already made him a villain, once, and he didn't like it. Lizzie, however, is asking him to be a hero. She's going after Hope alone, but she needs someone willing to protect the school and finish the job should she fail. Ethan questions what she'd do if he just phased back and warned MG and Cleo, but Lizzie tells him that would only put them in more risk. She can't have that and tosses him one of the two stakes. He asks if that is a threat, but the only threat they have is Hope. He has two choices, to lie to his best friend or she can do a spell to make him forget they had this conversation and insert a fake memory. For all he'll know they walked out to the Old Mill to talk.
Later that night, she sits in Alaric's office and is interrupted by Cleo who tells her that Josie has awakened from the therapy box. While there Cleo explains why she didn't inspire her today. The truth was, she was afraid she wasn't being honest and worried what that might inspire her to do. Likewise, that wasn't very honest of her. She tells Lizzie that she became aware of a weapon that can kill the tribrid, but kept it to herself, too afraid what others might choose to do with it. Now, she's destroyed it. Lizzie tells her she did the right things, though that response isn't what Cleo expected. Lizzie explains she was in a dark place and if she got ahold of a weapon that could kill Hope, she might have done something awful. She tells them they're good and Cleo accepts. As she leaves, Lizzie returns to sharpening a stake from the Red Oak wood.
In I Can't Be the One to Stop You, Lizzie finds "Hope" in a restaurant. Appearing in front of her, she stabs her hand with the Red Oak stake, wanting to chat with her.
Lizzie faces Hope's body, though unaware it's actually Aurora, claiming she's making a mistake. She attempts to explain that she's not who she thinks she is, even calling out for someone to help her. Lizzie explains that she cast a Conus silenti spell before she stabbed her and that no one can hear anything she's saying. She also tells her that the stake embedded in her hand is her weakness, Nature's loophole, and she gets to decide whether she lives or dies. Aurora casts the incendia spell and a plate held by a nearby waiter erupts in fire. Lizzie realizes that Hope would never miss with a spell that easy and believes what Aurora is telling her.
Removing the stake form her hand, Lizzie elects to talk with Aurora, who recounts her past and the trauma Klaus put her through. Lizzie muses how it runs in the family, telling her own story about Hope. Aurora points out how she's trying to compare the loss of a hair accessory to the physical and emotional torment that she endured. However, Lizzie's point is that they've both suffered at the hands of a Mikaelson, suggesting they join forces. Aurora muses that she has the body of the tribrid and doesn't need help, however, Lizzie explains that she just snuck up on her while Hope is in control of her thousand-year-old vampire body. Aurora questions why she should trust her, though quite simply they both want the same thing. To make Hope Mikaelson pay.
Back at Aurora's estate, she's quickly gaining control of her connection to Hope's magic, using the incendia spell to light candles. Lizzie tells her to stop stalling and questions what she has to put Hope down. Aurora explains that after the descendants of the original Triad freed her, she knew she would need an object powerful enough to trap the tribrid. She shows Lizzie a sarcophagus. If one were to believe the legends, it's some sort of prisoner jail, said to be capable of containing a god. Lizzie doesn't believe this, though she points out that if monsters are real, then why not divine beings. All stories come from somewhere and if these stories are true, then the sarcophagus should be strong enough to trap the tribrid. Aurora then plans to subject her to eternal torment at the bottom of the ocean. She will die and come back, drowning to death over and over again. She will then finally have her vengeance. Lizzie isn't convinced of Aurora's plan. Hope always finds a way out and she feels that it's a little biblical. While Lizzie wants to make Hope suffer, she doesn't believe that means she deserves an eternity of torture. Aurora is adamant to make somebody pay for what Hope's family did to her. Lizzie tells her that she's no better than Klaus Mikaelson and if she goes through with it, then she'll be no better than she is. Lizzie siphons from the Red Oak stake, but Aurora telekinetically takes the stake from her and shoves Lizzie back into a support beam. She's waited far too long for this, and she won't let anyone ruin her fun.
Lizzie calls Hope and tells her that the game has changed and has swapped sides. She has teamed up with Aurora; however, she thinks that her centuries-long vendetta might have knocked a screw loose. Lying to Hope, she tells her that she's trapped Aurora, for now, and is willing to help her get her body back, on one condition. Hope has to help her clean up the mess she made and save her dad. Hope agrees to Lizzie's deal. Aurora commends her for her brilliant speech and almost had her believing her. Lizzie, however, was telling the truth. Using the siphoned magic, the telekinetically opens the sarcophagus and pushes Aurora into it, shutting it behind her. Lizzie opens a small door, revealing her face. Aurora attempts to speak, but Lizzie casts another spell to silence her. They both know how the Mikaelsons can be monsters, but Lizzie tells her that her beef isn't with Hope and taking out her trauma on her won't actually fix any of the hurt or heartache that her family put her through. Similarly, she doesn't want her future to look like Aurora's. Lizzie has decided to finish this her way. While contemplating how to trap Hope, she's too late.
Lizzie is now face to face with Hope in Aurora's body. The therapy box has helped her discover a new side of herself. The side that's willing to do whatever it takes. Hope finds this interesting, wondering what her new plan is. Since she's not a tribrid anymore, and just a vampire, any old stake will do. Hope calls her bluff, believing that therapy is tricky, because knowing what you need to do and going through with it are two different things. Hope breaks off a piece of wood and hands it over, seeing what Lizzie is willing to do. Lizzie casts an illusion spell to make her appear like herself, as opposed to Aurora. Hope goads her into staking her, but all Lizzie can do is tell her how she hates this. She hates how many good memories they have and how she is the one to do this when no one else is willing to do it. Most of all, they are friends and she is a part of her messed up family. Ultimately, she can't be the one to stop her. Hope seemingly has her humanity back on with her heartfelt speech.
Seemingly with her humanity back on, Lizzie can't believe that she was tricked with the trident. Hope admits that she was reckless and attempts to apologize, but Lizzie wants to wait. Lizzie is honest with her. When Josie told her that she didn't think she was too far gone, she didn't believe her. Regardless, she doesn't know why she was the one that got to bring her back, but she's happy she did. Lizzie drops the illusion spell, prepared for Hope to stab Aurora and get her body back. She tells Lizzie that once she has her body back, she'll tell her something only she would know. Opening the sarcophagus, she stabs Aurora with the trident and regains her body. Hope steps out of the sarcophagus, telling her it worked. Panda promise. Aurora also awakens as they embrace each other in a hug. She tells Lizzie that she can't trust Hope. Once a Mikaelson, always a Mikaelson. Aurora pushes down a support beam and some of the floor collapses as she makes her escape.
Lizzie and Hope remain unharmed from Aurora's escape. The first thing Lizzie wants to do is to head back to Mystic Falls to have Hope save her dad. After that, then they can go after Aurora. Hope, however, has another question while holding the Red Oak stake. Convinced that Hope's humanity is returned, Lizzie tells her about the tree they created and how it can kill her. Hope remarks that Nature really doesn't waste any time, unlike her. In fact, she is disappointed in Lizzie because she had her shot and didn't even take it. Casting the incendia spell, she destroys the stake. Lizzie now knows that her humanity never came back on and it was all just an act. Deep down, Lizzie meant every word she said and still believes that there is still some good in her. Hope decides to prove everyone wrong and steps towards Lizzie. Lizzie refuses to run or to fight Hope. This whole act is stupid and she's only being a bully. She believes that she won't kill her. She hasn't killed anyone that she's cared about. There are some lines that even she won't cross. However, before Lizzie can even finish her statement or react, Hope vamps towards her and breaks her neck. Lizzie falls to the floor, dead.
Josie falls asleep on the bus ride out of Mystic Falls. In her dreams, Lizzie appears to her. Josie admits that she couldn't feel her. Lizzie couldn't feel her, either. Josie wants to know what happened, but Lizzie tells her he doesn't need to worry. She did something kind of dumb, but had an insurance policy. Josie wants to know where she is, that she'll come to her, but Lizzie refuses. They're both doing what they think is right, and that's okay. She made a choice and she has to see it through on her own. Josie has to do the same. No matter what she feels next, just know, wherever she is, she loves her. Josie loves her too, no matter what. Josie awakens from her dream.
Hope tries to destroy the sarcophagus, but it appears to be impervious to her magic. Hearing short, rattling breaths, she turns to find Lizzie getting up off the floor. Hope is surprised, she's supposed to be dead. Lizzie knows, but now all she is, is hungry. She's in transition.
In The Story of My Life, Lizzie is placed under a sleeping spell by Hope and held within the sarcophagus. Taken to Professor Vardemus' office at Whitmore College, Jen manages to open the sarcophagus. Rupert believes himself too late, but Lizzie bursts awake and uses the sword in Rupert's hand to slice open his neck for her to drink from, completing her transition into a hybrid. Rupert falls to the floor, bleeding out. Lizzie's still hungry and vamps after Jen who attempts to run. Lizzie blocks her exit and attempts to compel her to remain in the room. Before she eats her, she plans to kill Hope first.
Finding her trapped within Professor Vardemus' chambre de chasse, Lizzie appears to her to taunt her. Unlike her first attempt, she's determined to kill her now. Since she's practically an expert on mental prisons by now, she gives her a hint. Getting out is always about getting to the root of your problems. Plucking a key that has Hope written on it, she can leave whenever she wants and explains that she'll give her a goodbye before she kills her. Hope doesn't believe that she can kill her, but Lizzie shows her a whittled stake that holds up her hair. It was a large Red Oak tree and she made more than one stake. Vamping to a door, she leaves the chambre de chasse as the keys fall and scatter to the floor.
zie returns to Professor Vardemus' office. Jen believes that she's killed him. Lizzie bites into her wrist and feeds him some of her blood, completely healing him. Grabbing his throat, he thanks Lizzie, but assumes there's a reason for her saving his life. Lizzie needs his help because as much as she wants to kill Hope, she can't.
Back in the storage room, Lizzie demonstrates her attack on Hope, though each time she's forced to stop, never making contact with her. Professor Vardemus attempts to attack Hope, too, but Lizzie stops him. It's bad enough that she can't kill her, but now she assumes she's protecting her too. Rupert inquires exactly how she became a vampire, but in that moment, Hope is freed from the chambre de chasse.
Lizzie is surprised that Hope escaped. Hope admits that her showing up with the hint was just the help she needed. Lizzie made herself her problem and all she needed to do was find the key with her name. Hope uses the motus spell to take the Red Oak stake from Lizzie's hand, but Lizzie casts incendia and incinerates the stake before Hope can use it against her. Professor Vardemus however believes that Lizzie will do anything Hope says and demonstrates his. Lizzie reveals that she used the blood of whatever vampire donated their blood to the school's first-aid kits. Unfortunately for her, it was Hope's blood, meaning she's sire bound to Hope.
Returning to Professor Vardemus' office, they discover that Jen and the sarcophagus are gone. As Hope and Lizzie continue to argue, Professor Vardemus reminds them that they cannot let an immensely powerful artifact that may have ties to the gods loose into the world. Hope vamps out to find the sarcophagus as she doesn't want it being used against herself. Lizzie agrees, as Hope used it against her. With Hope gone, Professor Vardemus questions if her emotions are heightened, too. He employs her, because she's a good person, to consider his thoughts. Hope is in a very dark place, and she's going after an innocent student.
Lizzie arrives in the parking lot just as Jen picks up a piece of the destroyed sarcophagus, planning to kill Hope. Lizzie grabs her arm from behind and siphons from her, catching her off guard. Outnumbered, Jen decides to abandon the fight and flies off into the sky. Lizzie is confused, questioning what she is. Hope, hazarding a guess, believes she's a god.
Lizzie and Hope talk after their confrontation with Jen. Though Hope is happy the sarcophagus is destroyed, Aurora and the gods are still present. Despite their situation, she needs her help. Hope explains that as powerful as being the tribrid makes her, she has been waltzing into traps, being blindsided ever since she shut off my humanity. She cares so little about everything that she has been reckless. She wants Lizzie's help in taking down Aurora. Lizzie gives her request a hard pass, but Hope reminds her that she's sire-bonded to her. She can't pass. Lizzie attempts to talk her way out of it, but Hope won't hear it. Lizzie even mentions that her friends are going to come look for her as soon as they find out what happened. Hope, however, has her own solution to that problem.
Lizzie astral projects to the Salvatore School, to MG and Cleo. The latter encourages MG to hug her, but he passes right through her, as she's not physcially back at the school but astral projecting. They have a lot to catch up on.
Lizzie ends the astral projection, returning to her body and to Hope. She's mad at Hope for making her lie to MG, but as far as he's concerned, she's going to spend some time with her mom to get accustomed to being a vampire. Hope believes this could be the beginning of a beautiful, mutually beneficial relationship, but Lizzie doesn't think that. She believes it's a suicide mission against Aurora and there is nothing in this for her. Hope explains that once Aurora is dead, she will make her promise to not to kill her and then send her on her way; she'll be free-ish. Given their sire bound, Lizzie relents and admits that codependency is her crutch and decides to go along as if she has to help her kill anyone, Aurora's pretty high up on her list. Great. Together they set off.Personality[]
Siphoner[]
Lizzie appears to be a typical high school mean girl, underneath bubbles a darkness that cannot go unaddressed. Given both her sinister lineage and the questionable biology that accompanies it, Lizzie possesses the power to render great harm unto the world if her behavior continues to go unchecked. She shows signs of mood swings, self-absorption, and over-possessiveness. It's ultimately Lizzie's attachment to the superficial that will prevent her from doing the introspection necessary to avert the breakdown clearly on the horizon.[1]
While she cares deeply for her sister and father and would do anything for them, she is incapable of seeing things from their perspective. During the school election for the honor council, she expected to win and felt betrayed when Josie won instead. She only saw how she was slighted instead of being happy for her sister. Lizzie is also a narcissist with a fragile ego that hates when she doesn't have her father's full attention.
During Summer break, Lizzie underwent intense behavioral therapy. She met with medical professionals and healers to help treat her bipolar disorder. She made great strides and started to treat herself and others with more respect. She even supported Josie in her magical endeavors instead of feeling threatened by her sisters' progress. Her progress was temporarily thwarted when MG accidentally made her think she was hallucinating. This was made worse when she was possessed by an oni, and she even expressed a desire to die as she didn't want to live in a mentally unstable state any longer. When Lizzie realized she wasn't hallucinating, she was able to regain a healthier mental state while being the same witty, fun, and brutally honest girl she always was.
Vampire-Witch[]
After completing her transition, all of Lizzie's personality traits are heightened, making her emotional ranges more extreme. Upon awakening, her desire to kill Hope is amplified, even toying with her in the Chambre de Chasse. Lizzie retains her light-hearted, witty, and fun attitude, as she enjoys the powers that come with being a vampire. Many of her actions are reliant on the sire bond she shares with Hope. It forces her to comply with Hope's every whim, an action that proves difficult as Lizzie's desperation to avoid Hope and the situation is also heightened. It also forces her to take a protective role over Hope, who Lizzie still views as the root of all her issues.

Although people describe Lizzie's personality and possibly even her appearance compared to being a "mean girl," she is a beautiful, young woman with light skin, blue eyes, and blonde hair.
Powers and Abilities[]
Lizzie was originally born as a siphoner, a witch with no power of her own, meaning that she could only practice magic by siphoning it from another source. However, after becoming a vampire, she retained her siphoning abilities, allowing her to function as a witch-vampire hybrid.
Weaknesses[]
Lizzie had the typical weaknesses of a siphoner-witch. After dying and completing her transition, she has the typical weakness of a siphoner-witch non-Original vampire hybrid. Additionally, having been sired with Hope Mikaelson's blood, she is sire bonded to her.

Alaric Saltzman and Caroline Forbes are the parents to Lizzie Saltzman. Alaric is Lizzie's biological father and Caroline is Lizzie's mother, but not her biological mother. Lizzie's ancestry consists of bloodshed and a witch coven, which was destroyed about a year prior to Lizzie's birth. After Lizzie's biological mother (Jo Laughlin) was killed by her murderous twin brother, the Gemini Coven placed Lizzie's fetus into Caroline. Alaric and Caroline found out about this a few months after the Gemini Coven's massacre and they agreed to raise Lizzie (along with her twin sister, Josie) together. Today, Lizzie now lives in Mystic Falls, and she grew up there as well. As a siphoner/witch, Lizzie witnessed her parents running her magical school, the Salvatore Boarding School, while they helped to raise her. Currently, Alaric is the only one raising Lizzie extensively due to Caroline's travels. Lizzie was told that her travels involved school-recruitment in Europe; however, it was in fact to search for a solution about the Merge. Lizzie misses her mother, but she visits Caroline whenever she can, which Lizzie did so at least once, on Legacies. Lizzie is now struggling to get by without her mother and her father is more involved with the school as of late. However, Lizzie still loves her parents and yearns for their attention and approval.
Josie Saltzman[]
Josie is Lizzie's twin sister, trusted best friend, and the person who provides Lizzie with advice and a shoulder to lean on whenever her temper goes awry. They grew up together and have gone to (and currently go to) the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted for most of their lives. Alaric Saltzman and Caroline Forbes are their father and mother, but Jo Laughlin was their biological mother. There is a dark history in which their biological mother perished from. Also, both twins are descended from a dark history involving their magical lineage, which is partly due to their siphoner-heritage. Despite this dark history, Lizzie is learning to control her dangerous powers with Josie's help along with her boarding school's help.
In Malivore, Lizzie is helped by Josie in campaigning for the school's honor council. She attempts to ask Josie about outfit choices and such. However, ignoring that Josie is there, Lizzie asks Rafael out as a deal if he voted for her. However, later on, Lizzie is shocked that she lost against Josie. Penelope gives Lizzie some hard advice saying that Josie will never have a normal romantic relationship with Lizzie in her life, which upsets Lizzie a lot. And Lizzie later apologizes to Rafael that she didn't realize Josie would vote against the decision to keep his foster brother at the school.

Lizzie first meets Rafael, along with her twin sister, Josie, when he first arrives at the Salvatore Boarding School. Lizzie takes an immediate liking to him and enthusiastically gives him a tour of the school, with Josie. Lizzie, almost immediately after meeting him, admits she has a crush on Rafael to Josie. She attempts to flirt with him at a school sports game, but he immediately turns her down, which shocks and angers Lizzie, which later causes her to go into a fit of rage and makes her believe that she's broken. Despite Rafael's rejections and wanting little to nothing to do with Lizzie, she still makes it clear that she wants him and calls "dibs" on him when Josie asks about Rafael.
In Malivore, Lizzie attempts to make a deal with Rafael. The deal was that he would vote for her and take her as her date to a party. He gladly accepted, but not before hesitantly looking at Josie, who was also in the room when Lizzie asked this of Rafael. Later, when Lizzie had found out long since it happened that she lost the student council election, she goes to the school's gym to try and blow off some steam. However, Penelope later enters the gym and says some hurtful, yet truthful words to her that causes Lizzie to break down crying. Rafael shortly runs into Lizzie crying and attempts to excuse himself, but she stops him by apologizing that she had no idea Josie would vote 'no' to keep Landon at the school. After Rafael says it's okay and attempts to leave the gym a second time, Lizzie desperately stops him and kisses him. Rafael attempts to stop her, but they both ultimately give in after Lizzie states, "Don't think about it." They then sleep together in the gym, only for Rafael to backtrack and tell Lizzie the next evening, during their dance at her sixteenth birthday party in Mombie Dearest, that they weren't going to be more than friends.
MG[]
Lizzie has been good friends with MG for awhile. They attend the same school together at a boarding school, but Lizzie tends to only pay attention to MG whenever she needs something from him. Although Lizzie is unaware, MG has romantic feelings for her. For now, Lizzie doesn't return said-feelings for MG, but it is shown that it frustrates her whenever MG flirts with other girls, whether they be human or supernatural. Their friendship was also in jeopardy when MG made out with Lizzie's twin sister's ex-girlfriend, but this has been resolved. They are currently good friends and allies in defending their boarding school together (with their other friends).

Lizzie first met Sebastian at the Old Mill and was instantly attracted to him, even telling MG that she might have a crush on him because he didn't know who she was. This prompts Lizzie to enlists MG's help in finding out if he was a new Malivore monster, but she comes to learn that he's a vampire. Sebastian confesses he is drawn to her and they share their first kiss together. MG watches from afar but only sees her kissing the air. While on a picnic date with Sebastian, MG interrupts them, and inadvertently convinces Lizzie that Sebastian isn't real and that she's having a psychotic break. MG later learns that Sebastian was real and was communicating with Lizzie in a diminished and desiccated state and eventually reunites the two. Although, she wanted nothing to do with Sebastian, she retained her attraction. Their relationship turns romantic, followed by sex, after Lizzie brings him with her while searching for Landon.
