Margaret Rosewood, nicknamed and more commonly known as Maggie was a major recurring character in Season Two of The Vampire Diaries and later in Season Three, she became a main character. Margaret is the daughter of Gwendolyn and George Rosewood. She is the older sister out of her three siblings. In 1298, Niklaus Mikaelson killed her whole family for betraying him but Elijah Mikaelson found Margaret just in time to turn her, but unknowingly by him, Margaret was a siphoner and had a the ability to turn into a Heretic.
Margaret is the mother of the first and second naturally born heretics, Madeline and Christopher Rosewood, the twins she had with the heretic, Malachai Parker.
She was born into the main branch of the Rosewood Family, as a siphoner. Her abilities wasn't noticed until she was about 15 years old. Her mother tried to plead to the ancestors to change her daughter but it didn't work. So then, her family outcasted her from everyone else. But years later, Klaus finds out about the Rosewood's betrayal towards him and Klaus murders the whole family and wounds Margaret badly. But, Elijah appears and saves Margaret by turning her into a vampire, but unknowably to him and Margaret, she came back as a powerful heretic.
Margaret is a member of the Rosewood Family. She is also has ties to the Parker Family as well as the Gemini Coven via her children; the Montgomery Family and the Holloway Family via her sister, Eleanor Rosewood.

Margaret was originally born a siphoner, a witch with no personal power, meaning that she could only practice magic by siphoning it from another source. However, after becoming a vampire, she retained her siphoning ability, allowing her to practice magic by siphoning it from her vampirism. As such, she possesses all the standard powers and abilities of a siphoner-witch non-Original vampire hybrid.
